Centered in the heart of Los Angeles, the historic building in which it resides was originally erected in 1929 by Charlie Chaplin, and later transformed into the iconic La Brea Bakery and Campanile Restaurant.     Dinner at Providence is an experience to savor. The beautiful room offers the perfect ambiance - enough activity to feel involved, quiet enough for conversation, and just the right amount of table spacing. Service was attentive and perfectly timed without hovering. Friendly and professional. Now - the food. Each dish - tasty, complex, and gorgeous - was served on pretty plates or unique objects, and embellished with tiny edible flowers from the rooftop garden. We loved the wines, well-matched with each course and described as they were poured. We loved every minute of our three-hour dining experience. Cheers to the chef, servers, and everyone involved in creating our dinner.

    Outstanding food, ambiance, and service. We enjoyed everything and some items were simply perfect. The Buffalo Mozzarella with Garlic bread and anchovies were mind blowing. Grilled octopus was sensational with the subtle potato salad underneath. Oxtail Ragu was great, could’ve been a bit saltier. Braised Veal Cheek was great and well made with the mashed potatoes, yet the flavor of the beef got buried a bit by the potato. We got a well done hanger steak, it was a bit dry, and we’ll for sure get it medium next time. Crispy Duck was easily one of my favorites as the sweet sauce and the lemon combination it was served with definitely gave it an adventurous taste that makes you full in the best way possible. The desserts were simply magnificent, starting with the Torta Della Nonna, Pistachio Gelato, and our top favorite item, Apple Borsellino. Overall, an amazing experience for a great price in Los Angeles. 9.5/10

    Vespertine delivered one of the most extraordinary dining experiences we’ve ever had in the United States, rivaling the caliber of Michelin three-star restaurants abroad, such as Boragó in Santiago. The food was a stunning combination of originality, flavor, and artistry, each dish a masterpiece that delighted the palate and the eye. Service was impeccable, with the timing of each course orchestrated to perfection. The building itself is a marvel, adding a unique and modern dimension to the experience. While the evening was nearly flawless, there were a few minor areas for improvement. The final dessert felt overly elaborate and heavy, making it challenging to fully enjoy at the end of such a substantial meal. The dessert room, located near the entrance, was uncomfortably chilly on a cool evening, requiring us to retrieve our coats. Lastly, the $20 valet charge came as an unwelcome surprise, especially considering the restaurant’s high price point and the fact that the parking lot is private and on-site. A clearer sign or complimentary parking would have better matched the overall premium experience. These small critiques aside, Vespertine was a truly unforgettable dining journey—one we would highly recommend to anyone seeking a world-class culinary adventure in Los Angeles.

    Loved the Christmas Eve tasting. Each dish was the star of its own act....I really couldn't pick out a favorite. I love all the flavors and the architecture is so captivating. I felt transported to a different world for one night for a very special foodie experience. Thank you for making this so special for me and my family.

    The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. There are so many "fancy" restaurants in Los Angeles where the food is disappointing, but this was not one of them. Having known about Republique for many years and seeing it on many "best" lists I was prepared to be disappointed, but it met my expectations. My parents and I were very pleased with our meal, the service, and the ambience which is beautiful. It qualifies as one of the best restaurants we've eaten at in Los Angeles, and is deserving of its designation as one of LA's top restaurants.
