Very cool and great experience for a first timer! The atmosphere was great and very relaxing but energetic! We went on a Thursday night and the place was very packed in a good way! There was a live saxophone musician and a singer. The food was really good and the table side carbonara was fantastic!

Caleb was phenomenal. Unobtrusive, but still very present. If you want to enjoy your meal without feeling rushed, come early. Coursing was perfect after we asked to slow it down. Value has slightly declined, but Umi will always be a favorite in Atlanta. A5 Wagyu Roll was a complete miss this time, but everything else was phenomenal. The Otoro Caviar is a must try!

Had the toro tuna flight, delicious. The salmon skin salad, crispy strips of the skin atop iceberg, very nice. The monkfish liver salad was tantalizing , medallions of monkfish liver on cucumber slices with a tangy ponzu sauce. The server was polite, professional, there when needed him.

Except for valet (upon arrival, he just looked at us, zero greeting or communication...), our experience was excellent all around. Caviar service, veal mousse, carpaccio, gnocchi, lobster pasta, clam pasta, and halibut. Clam pasta was just okay. Everything else was perfect. Thank you, La Grotta.
