The Queen Anne Victorian at 210 Savannah Road in Lewes, DE has stood tall for over 100 years. Built in 1899, Captain W. “Diver” Johnston at the age of 52 collaborated with his business partner (William H. Virden) to build a beautiful new house for him and his wife, Isabella. Records indicate that he paid $400 for the entire lot, one of the most prominent sites in downtown Lewes.Over the next 100 years, the Victorian structure built in the style of Eastlake, an English architect, served as a home for many families, including longtime Lewes Mayor, Otis Smith.The team at Raas is proud to continue the story of the Queen Anne Victorian.     Pre dinner cocktails hit the spot! Dinner was fabulous as was the service and the staff in general (helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.) We were seated at a great table in the corner which was decorated for the season. It made a great backdrop for our photos! The owner was very friendly and actually chatted with my husband for a bit. All in all, 1776 is our favorite spot in Sussex County!

    We went the evening of New Year’s Day. The meal was simply excellent. Not fancy, as we would imagine French haute cuisine, but excellently prepared and generous portions. It was not inexpensive, but we agreed the dinner and experience were well worth the cost.

     This was my and my husband‘s first time eating in an Indian restaurant. My daughter and her fiancé, who have eaten Indian food, came with us to help us with selecting our order. The weight staff was excellent. The food was very delicious as were the drinks. I highly recommend this as a special occasion restaurant to try.

    This was our second visit and it was, again, great. Love the creative cocktails - the Golden Egg, the Fizzy Lifting Drink, etc. The lamb lollipops and fried clams were awesome. The crab dip had tons of crab, but definitely better shared - it's very rich. The highlight had to be the Lobster pot pie. We counted no less than 8 claws in the pot pie. My husband also loved the pork chop. All told, a great meal. We will return.
