The Winding Stair Bookshop & Café became a famous Dublin landmark in the 1970s and 1980s. Named after the Yeats poem and in honour of its winding staircase, it is overlooking the river Liffey, with an iconic view of the Ha'penny bridge. As a popular meeting place for writers, musicians and artists, it was a well known hub for debate and creativity with many poems written, novels penned and movies shot within its walls. In 2006, Elaine Murphy brought this much-loved spot back to life as a restaurant, championing seasonal, Irish produce. The bookshop, located on the ground floor, was retained, as were many of the old bookshelves, photos and memories. On this occasion we had brunch, two adults and two kids 14 and 9 y.o. Our table was ready on arrival. All food arrived at exactly the same time, and was cooked perfectly. The staff couldn't have been better. It was all very efficient but not rushed. This restaurant is very comfortable and the tables are a generous size. The kids hadn't been before, but want to go back for dinner.

Everything was perfect! The food was delicious, the place was cozy and the service was outstanding! Perfect for a special dinner. We went there to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and the waiters and waitress were so attentive and made sure it was memorable. Luna was super nice and helpful with her recommendations. We can’t wait to come back and try other dishes, they really were absolutely delightful (and so many vegetarian options!). Highly recommend!

Food was fantastic - we had 'snacks' for starters (which are very small) , great main courses and sides, and delicious deserts. The service was lovely and the ambiance of the restaurant was perfect. Thank you for a lovely night.

Super evening. We were 9 celebrating a birthday. A drink in the upstairs lounge was followed by an outstanding 3 courses. Ambiance was lively and service was top quality.
