In addition to the food, we offer a selection of fine wines, quirky cocktails, and have a collection of over 25 craft gins available.World War I poet Siegfried Sassoon lived in Matfield and is the inspiration behind our name. Sassoon was awarded the Military Cross for "conspicuous gallantry" and later won acclaim for his writing. Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do. Welcome to The Warren Restaurant, an extension of The Crowborough Estate, holding stock of Sussex Cattle, Boer Goats, Fallow deer, and Wild boar amongst others which the restaurant draws on for its menu. C’était une expérience enthousiasmante. Les cocktails sont fort originaux, l’ambiance est joyeuse et tout le monde semble de bonne humeur, ce qui est très agréable ! Les plats sont bons et jolis. La gentille attention pour l’anniversaire a été une belle surprise. Je recommande chaleureusement !
