It is a place of calm, away from the bustle of London, that respects and is in tune with nature and positive living. The Boglione family, who own the nurseries and live in the adjoining Petersham House are rooted to their blend of British and Italian culture which remains at the heart of the business and is reflected in the style of the food that is served. Petersham Nurseries Café is inspired by what is growing in our kitchen garden and by the produce supplied to us by our sister company, Haye Farm. Whilst maintaining their passion for simplicity, flora, fauna and responsibly sourced produce they have created an unparalleled setting just outside of central London.

Fresh, light, modern, and sophisticated are words that describe both The Light House restaurant in the south London suburb of Wimbledon and its meltingly good Italian fusion cuisine. The dining room is pleasingly modern and spacious, all pale walls with striking artworks, blond floors and furniture, and there is a lovely patio for lingering on and on. The Light House menu changes every day to make best use of the freshest seasonal ingredients and each dish is an adventure. Try perroche bruschetta with piquillo peppers, caperberries, babaganoush and Greek olives to start, perhaps followed by pan-fried sea bass on wild garlic leaves, courgettes, ratte potatoes and romesco sauce. Black pepper cheesecake with gooseberry compote is a winner, too. For chatty lunches, romantic evenings, memorable Sunday lunches or satisfying meals when Wimbledon tennis is in full swing, The Light House is waiting with excellent modern European food and friendly service.

One of the best meals we’ve had for a long while, food was superb and we (6 of us) pretty much covered the menu! My only comment would be that service wasn’t the best, we had quite a variety of wine across courses, they hold the wine at the service station so they can pour (which is lovely) but they don’t keep a proper check so we sat around quite a bit waiting to be topped up, also at each course the wine arrived either part way through or in terms of the start course - after we’d finished Perfectly pleasant, nothing was too much trouble and the matre de is superb when involved

This is true gem in Surbiton and I feel lucky that we have such an exquisite treat on our door steps. The food was exquisite and the service is impeccable and I think very fair in price and value. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this place as everything about it is really special. The people who look after you are knowledgable and personable and nothing is too much trouble. You get excellent advice on pairing wines to go with your dishes and the whole experience is effortless and memorable. Have been doing an annual trip for Christmas for a few years now and have been on the odd ocassion at other times and will continue to do this as each time the experience is amazing.
