For the finest in Cumbrian Lake District dining, this beautiful restaurant in Waterwillock comes complete with 22 acres of gardens, a helipad and private access to the shores of Ullswater. In other words, this 200 year old retreat is the James Bond of country house hotels, and therefore a popular choice for weddings and private parties. The acclaimed Regency Restaurant is just another reason why Leeming House is such a desirable destination. The dining room – decorated with plush carpets, garden-fresh roses and theatrical drapes – enjoys panoramic views of the gardens and lake, and the modern British menu includes favourites such as the pan-fried coley with crushed potatoes, and the glazed lemongrass tart.

MONDAY & TUESDAY is 2 courses for £25 p/personWEDNESDAY is Pie and Burger nightTHURSDAY to SUNDAY is our locally sourced main monthly menu. We’re a 17th century dog friendly coaching inn run by husband and wife team Tom and Claire. There isn’t a straight line in the place and we’ve kept the old character of the pub while injecting some more contemporary charm of our own. Our monthly menu showcases the best the local area has to offer featuring things like hogget reared in the village and wild garlic picked from local woodland. Our bar is stocked with locally brewed hand pulled ales, a wide variety of spirits and a good selection on tap with bar snacks alongside at the weekend. New for this year we now have a beautiful outdoor seating and dining area where you can catch the afternoon and early evening sun while trying to spot every one of Tom’s 32 fish (they’re not on the menu though!)

Such a beautiful little gem. It has such a magical Christmas vibe in the shop with lots of Christmas decorations, jewellery, candles, clothes and handbags to purchase, through to the amazing food. We arrived early for our table but the lovely staff member found us another table so we didn’t have to wait around. I ordered the pie and chips with veg and, wow is all I can say. I would say that you need time to rest afterwards as the portion sizes are huge. Very good value for money. Can’t wait to go back. If you haven’t been there before, you must visit.

Festive roast beef for two was excellent. Christmas pudding with sauce was very good. The trifle would have been better avoided. The topping was cream with pink sprinkles better suited to a children’s menu. The cream had a synthetic taste. The next layer was a rubbery red jelly. The base was a large amount of very dry sponge cake. I suspect it hadn’t seen a teaspoonful of sherry let alone the large quantity the menu suggested it would have. I declined to pay for this dessert. We would however return to the Cross Keys for another main course.

Beautiful meals with a lovely atmosphere!! Only thing I would say was to introduce table service due to being so busy! But 5 star from us 👌

Quiet and elegant dining room overlooking the hotel's extensive gardens, with views down to the lake. The menu is traditional British. All the dishes were very nicely presented and the food was to a high standard. An unusual addition to the table was a small freshly baked loaf, cut into four and served hot in a small pot. Delicious with the olive oil and balsamic dip that is served with it. There is a an extensive wine lost to compliment the meal. It was an enjoyable experience!
