Best Vegan Restaurants in Downtown Brooklyn

Outstanding dining experience shared with out of town family who were guests for the holiday season. The River Cafe did not disappoint. The menu offered a dazzling array of options for each course and given the large selection, we were a bit concerned about their ability to deliver… we were extremely happy and quite frankly blown away by each course. The food was of the best quality, presented beautifully and tasted absolutely DELICIOUS. Our only disappointment was the water service - it seems so silly but we had to ask NUMEROUS times for water and wait and wait for our glasses to be refilled. This seems like a minor detail but a major annoyance that can be readily corrected. One other troubling detail that surprised us was the lack of toilet tissue in the Ladies Room- it appeared that no staff attended to the bathroom during our three hour meal. We raise these two points in support of The River Cafe’s commitment to excellence. A warm thanks to the Chef and their team for a wonderful meal and lovey dining experience.

Absolutely delicious menu - every piece was so unique and perfectly executed. The chef’s team kept us well informed about what we were eating throughout the widely diverse array of creations and by the end, we were full, satisfied, and agreed it was the best vegan dining experience we had ever had.

Incredible vegan restaurant, even my non vegan French friend was impressed! The owner was very friendly and passionate about the food, and the service was excellent!

Had a wonderful 13th anniversary dinner last night at Modern Love. Everything was perfect, the food especially was fabulous as always, and service was also excellent. Such a comforting vegan oasis, we are so lucky to have Modern Love for all of our celebrations!

Yes, and yes. I'm by no means a food critic or influencer. As a matter of fact, I will say that trying this food has given my mouth a whole new level of happiness. We had the curry cauliflower in cashew sauce, along with the stir-fried vegetable platter, and they were both delicious. The creamy texture of the curry cauliflower and the way the flavors melted in my mouth were excellent. The staff was amazing and attentive. The dessert (Pecan chocolate chip) cookie was a hit for me with their Chai tea added to the experience. Great flavors and healthier for you. . .I will be back.
