“In Syrian culture, we can’t make any journey without first planning the food. If you decide to go to the cinema, you plan what you’ll eat. If you plan to visit your mother, you know that you’re going to eat. There’s no going out without eating something.”-Imad AlarnabImad Alarnab was a successful restaurateur in Damascus with three restaurants, plus several juice bars and cafes. In the war, Imad's restaurants were destroyed and he was forced to flee the country in search of safety for his family. Making his way from Lebanon through Europe, Imad shared his skills cooking for other refugees, up to 400 at a time, and found even in the most challenging times, his passion for food and bringing people together to celebrate life was strong.

Fantastic steaks! Well worth the money. Service was quick, staff were polite, friendly and very helpful, from reception to table service. Food was superb, as expected for Gauchos. Our waiter was knowledgable and able to get us to try recommendations even though we thought we knew what we wanted - and he was right! Not too noisy, great atmosphere.

I’ve been here twice before and it was even better than those times. The food and drinks are phenomenal. Reasonably priced. Lovely to share the menu between the four of us. Busy and good atmosphere but not too loud.

What a lovely experience at Gauthier Soho! We visited Gauthier for an anniversary meal celebration and we opted for the early Petit Dinner with five taster courses at 5pm. The restaurant allocates a two time period for this sitting or service and is ample time to taste, savour and enjoy all the dishes without feeling rushed at all. The waiting staff on the evening of our visit were friendly, knowledgeable and informative. As you enter Gauthier from the street (it is basically a three storey house) you're welcomed by the Maître de' or one of the waiters into a chic, cosy and welcoming atmosphere - our table was opposite the open fire in the 'Le Petit Salon' downstairs, located just off the entrance hall. Once seated one of our waiters offered water initially and showed us the menu for the five taster course and the drinks list. Whilst we didn't opt for the wine pairing, I asked for a recommendation for a glass of wine and it matched my taste perfectly, whilst my husband had a Belgian beer. We were then presented with each course with a brief explanation of the ingredients of the dish, how it was prepared and any history. Both waiters on the night - ( think one was Carl but didn't get the name of our other waiter sadly but visited Wednesday 19/02/2025) were delightful, both attentive yet discreet, friendly and knowledgable. The food was exceptional, and delicious - we both savoured every mouthful, the individual flavours blended so expertly and everything presented so beautifully. Every dish is completely vegan. When we made the booking on Opentable we said it was for an anniversary, and an extra nice touch is the dessert that came with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate - extra sweet! The ladies dining opposite us had similar with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate for the birthday girl. Absolutely the best vegan restaurant I've experienced so far, I'd highly recommend visiting Gauthier Soho, and hope to re-visit soon ourselves! Thank you x
