The Grain House Restaurant is located on the picturesque 10-acre estate of the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. The Grain House structure was originally built as a barn in the 1760’s and was used to store grain for American Revolutionary soldiers. The barn was later moved to its current location and opened as a restaurant in the 1930’s. Today, the Grain House is a renowned restaurant in North/Central New Jersey, with a comfortable, casual ambiance.     The service was absolutely perfect. We were given enough time to have our wine and look at the menu and discuss our options. The timing of the appetizer to the main to the dessert was seamless. We really enjoy not having to feel rushed through our meals and actually have a moment to enjoy every bit of our mezze options before the entree. 10/10 will be back and recommending to others!

    We never go out for Valentine’s Day but coming off of a month long trip, we decided to head out and we’re thankful that Chef Fredy’s had availability at a reasonable hour. Most of the tables were set for two and so with valentine’s conversation it was louder than expected but we could still hear each other. We ordered off of the special menu and were not disappointed! We had the octopus and clams for appetizers and the shrimp/scallops with pasta and the strip steak (order medium because they tend to come less done than traditional orders)… all was amazing - best we’ve had at any restaurant in awhile! They also added giving out a single red rose to each lady coming in …. Somehow I got missed, which I was a bit annoyed at as I watched every other patron receive one! They did correct this. Regardless, we can’t wait to come back and try the other dishes on the regular menu!

    Excellent experience. The mozzarella appetizer with charred broccolini and roasted red pepper, the baked eggplant, shrimp far diavolo and the chocolate ravioli dessert were all fantastic. The dessert came with “happy anniversary” in chocolate which was so nice. The ambience is lovely and all the staff so friendly. Can’t wait to go back.
