Michael Bong didn’t come to Japanese cooking along the obvious route – he’s Korean, for one – but now that he has, he’s certainly making the most of it. Tomodachi Izakaya & Bar on Little Malop Street in the centre of Geelong is a tribute to the corner bars of Tokyo, with a focus on japanese tapas and warm dishes mates that come off it. That results in top-notch pork belly, beef and chicken thighs for the meat-eaters and salmon, prawns and scallops for the fish fans as well as beancurd and vegetables for the vegetarians. Aside from the grill, there is also an astounding array of sushi and sashimi dishes, octopus pancake balls, salt and pepper squid, alongside dessert options and a long cocktail menu that befits all the best, boozy backstreet izakaya joints in Japan.     Such a gem of a place. The staff were friendly and engaging. Cocktails were delicious and I loved the different choices. Our meals were so beautifully presented and tasted divine. The calamari was so fresh it just melted in my mouth. I need to go back to try the rest of the menu

    We enjoyed our meal at Tutti. It was very convenient to have a meal there and go to our show at GPAC. We both had barramundi and it was delicious! We will be dining at Tutti again next time.

    Frankie. Bar & Eatery deserves 10 stars … seriously it is that good ! We traveled from Melbourne for lunch and selected half a dozen share plates as well as a few main dishes shared among 5 people. Honestly without exaggeration every dish was incredible and we are planning to go back to Geelong especially to dine here again … well done guys will be back !

    We had an excellent rocket salad and a perfect mushroom pizza. Overall great dining. Noisy groups near us a bit intrusive. Early in the evening staffing very light but good.
