It is a listed building and the oldest one still in use in the town. Our establishment is a restaurant and pub with an excellent reputation for serving traditional homemade British dishes. We take pride in sourcing produce from local businesses as much as possible and use these ingredients to create the best dishes for our patrons. Our signature dishes include Haddock in our special beer batter with hand-cut chips and the local speciality, the chicken parmesan. We believe in keeping things simple and making them well. On Sundays, we offer a traditional roast dinner with a choice of Roast Rib of Beef, Loin of Pork, Breast of Chicken or Lamb Shank.The Duke of Cleveland is the ideal venue for weddings and other special occasions or events.     Lovely experience again for my sons 17th. He was wished Happy birthday as he sat down and got an ice-cream with a candle after his lunch. We were offered an additional plant based menu which is great for me and gave me a reasonable choice of dishes. The server was lovely and really helpful. My son couldn't eat all his ribs and so she brought us a box to bring home to our very elderly cat who nearly keeled over with delight from the left overs. Thank you!

    Every thing about our night out was great until they brought the bill...i know things have a service charge but to stand there and say you don't have to pay it if you dont want kinda puts you on the spot a bit ,but our service charge was £7 (which i didnt pay by the way ) as£7 pounds for carring 2 plates is a bit high and if service charge wasnt on the bill we would have left a tip at our discretion...as we are pensioners and i felt for the group of8 students opposite whose bill was over £200 pound making that £20...im just glad we did not order a bottle of champagne at £100 as that would have been another £10for carring it to the table .......bit naughty Lucias
