On May 13, 1931, Giuseppe Cipriani opened Harry's Bar in Venice. Over the years, Harry's Bar has become the place where writers, painters, artists, aristocrats, kings, and queens would meet. Among them were: Barbara Hutton, Katherine Hepburn, Gary Cooper, Giancarlo Menotti, Peggy Guggenheim, Orson Welles, Frank Lloyd Wright, Joe DiMaggio, Truman Capote, and Ernest Hemingway. The keys to the success of this small bar were: service, freedom, and lack of imposition.Throughout its 93-year history, Harry's Bar has witnessed the 20th century in Venice. Its importance was also recognized by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, which declared it a national reference point in 2001. No other public place in Italy had received the same award in the same century.

Hostaria OsottoOsopra was born from a fortuitous meeting, between the streets of Venice.With a coffee and a chat, the dream of opening a restaurant with friends seemed to really take shape for the first time.In August 2017, those that were initially only ideas are transformed into reality, within the walls of a former pub in Calle San Pantalon, a stone's throw from Campo Santa Margherita.It would not make sense to open yet another tourist place in Venice, only to then get confused among the many restaurants around the city.No, Hostaria OsottoOsopra was supposed to be something different. It had to be a place to feel at home, where eating well in Venice became possible at a reasonable price and where the service, always in the hand but always elegant, made me want to come back.At the opening, Hosteria OsottoOsopra looked like this: with the atmosphere of a typical Venetian hostaria, but from the almost gourmet kitchen.

    Christmas Day lunch in the rooftop Terrazza Restaurant of one of the best hotels in Venice. Only set-menu offered but perfectly adequate. The food and service were both high standard and a comprehensive wine list available. None of this is cheap but you get what you pay for.

    Interesting decorations where thousands of Aperol bottles on the selves give a warm orange hue in the restaurant. Staff courteous and professional. Excellent food. The Fegato (liver) alla Veneziana just as it should be. Tables a bit crowded Entrance door right next to some tables was left open be incoming/outcoming customers and an icy draft was present. Overall a memorable Christmas Eve dinner.

    Such a great recommendation and so glad I went. It is pricey but as a Christmas treat it was worth every penny!! The staff were so friendly, the food was heavenly and general feel was so welcoming.

    We had a fantastic Christmas Eve dinner! The food, service, and ambiance were all amazing. Kirin and the other servers made our experience exceptional by explaining all the dishes, being friendly and attentive at the table, and anticipating our every need. I highly recommend this restaurant!

    My entree was served 15 minutes before my partners. I truly believe they forgot his entree ( a burger) but when questioned about where it was, the waiter said it was still being prepared. Other than that the food was fresh and hot, as well as plentiful.
