- SStevenEdinburgh/Midlothian •4 reviews4.0Dined todayI went with my friend to the Spanish Butcher today. The restaurant is very elegant and the staff that greet you are very polite and professional. We were seated and one of the waiters came over to explain how everything works. We were given menus and ordered our meal. The starters came out and were amazing, Scallops for me and prawns for my friend, with a side of Jamon Iberico. All of the starters were perfect. For the main we went for the Galacian Chateaubriand, with potatoes and mac and cheese as sides and Mojo Verde and Pico Blue as Sauces. I also got a extra side of Bone Marrow. The steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare, as requested. The meat was excellent, soft and render and very tasty. Sides were perfect as well. My only gripes were that the Pico Blue sauce was a bit runny, taste was on point but the consistency was a bit watery for me. As well as this, I'm fairly sure I was given Scotch beef instead of Galacian beef. I've had Galacian beef a few times now and flavour is a lot stronger than Scotch beef, I don't feel that this was the case here. I asked a waitresswho confirmed it was Galacian beef, however I wasn't convinced. If it was in fact Galacian beef then out of the 4 times I've had it, it has been the weakest tasting piece I've had. This however did not spoil the meal as the entire meal was excellent and I would recommend The Spanish Butcher if you wanted to go out for delicious steak.More infoThe Spanish Butcher - EdinburghPrice: Expensive• Steakhouse• New Town•4.6
