Haikan is our second Sapporo Ramen shop in DC after Daikaya. Haikan means, “pipe works” in Japanese, an ode to Atlantic Plumbing Building where we are located. The staff were friendly and well-informed. We were given a nice table, in a private corner. Room for improvement? a) Showing calories is a great idea but the high calorie content of almost everything on the menu led all four of us to choose the salad options, maybe offer half-portions to allow wider choice; and b) my avocado salad was an enigma, where was the avocado? Apparently imprisoned in the kitchen, a few small pieces were liberated by the wait staff.
