- BBobVIPVancouver / British Columbia •26 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoMEC has become my wife's and my favorite dinner spot when we're in Portland. Everything tastes fresh, freshly made and full of flavor. Last night we had eggplant dip, Moroccan chicken, Greek potatoes and grilled lamb chops, all done perfectly. The dip had just the right amount of smokiness. The potatoes were amazing--potatoes! The lamb larger than expected and cooked just as requested. We had to wait a few minutes for our table, but wine was served meantime. The wait line remained constant until 9:30, giving a hint to the energetic vibe that continued all evening. The ambience is as lively as the flavors.More infoMediterranean Exploration CompanyPrice: Expensive• Mediterranean• NW Portland•4.8

Table was reserved a month ago but staff surprised us with rose peddles and complimentary champagne and dessert. We were there on jazz night (typically Friday nights) and met the amazing Mel Brown on drums and other jazz greats on piano and bass. It was a special evening with exceptional food, ambience and service. It was well worth the price! The New York steak was prepared to perfection and the salmon special was grilled beautifully atop heavenly mashed potatoes and mixture of roasted Brussel sprouts and other little delicate vegetables cooked beautifully with a wonderful kick of spice and everything nice!!The cocktails were superb! Can’t wait to celebrate my birthday there this summer with many friends! Thank you Diane, Colleen, Reese and others who made us feel so special on our 47th anniversary. What a beautiful celebration that we’ll never forget. Mary and CliffMore infoSalty's on the ColumbiaPrice: Very Expensive• Seafood• NE Portland•4.7
- SShannonPortland / Oregon •1 review5.0Dined 4 days agoUm, I lived for over 25 years in Newberg, saw The Allison/Jory built, and have enjoyed their restaurant over the years by ordering from the entree menu. They have changed their game. Apparently, the chef got a brand new kitchen in January 2025 and their tasting menu is Pacific Northwest-themed. My wife and I enjoyed our own selections from each of four courses so we could try most of everything. My wife is a total foodie. To put it shortly, the tastes were exquisite and presentations were works of art. Out of the menu selections, we liked best: Ocean Experience, Black Cod, and Venison Loin. They were able to work with our gluten free, dairy free, and non-alcoholic preferences. Even though we didn't select the more expensive menu options, the waiter still treated us like valued guests. (To be fair, this is still an expensive restaurant which would beyond the reach of many people, but the value of the experience makes it worth what you spend, if you can swing it.) Because of the world we live in, it is important to mention that we are a lesbian couple and no service staff batted an eye at that. Queer safe venue. Overall, I was positively stunned by the elevation of the Jory experience and would love to visit again for really special occasions. We agreed that Michelin should be on their doorstep as soon as they can. Well done!More infoJORY Restaurant at The Allison Inn & SpaPrice: Very Expensive• Regional American (Northwest)• Newberg•4.7

Aside from the use seed oils, I’d give our experience a 10/10! We do love Benihanas.More infoBenihana - Beaverton, ORPrice: Moderate• Japanese• Beaverton•3.9
- MMichaelVIPPortland / Oregon •16 reviews5.0Dined 7 days agoWe enjoyed our prefix dinner selections. My wife's tenderloin steak was grilled medium-rare as ordered with shrimp paired with it. She enjoyed the bone marrow butter torched over the steak at the table; a nice presentation. I ordered the Lobster that was served breaded with béarnaise. It was cooked nicely, but I learned that I prefer just the tail with lemon butter. Our server Adam, was helpful, friendly and timely with our meal, not too fast or slow. He was provided good support with a team to meet all needs. The manager stopped by our table to see if we had everything we needed; I always appreciate seeing the management interacting with customers. No one seemed rushed or stressed making a for a pleasant atmosphere. Of course the view is great from the 30th floor.More infoPortland City GrillPrice: Expensive• Seafood• Downtown•4.5
