A typical food love story. A boy meets a girl while eating pizza. He attends culinary school and open’s a pizza restaurant named after the girl. Thus bringing us to Emily! The Manhattan iteration of the Brooklyn based pizzeria centered around a historic brick oven and comforting food. Emily has earned a following for its signature Detroit-style pies and award winning burger. The pizza here is rectangular (not round) and utilizes the "frico" technique, in which cheese is drizzled on the edges of the pie to create a crispy brown exterior. Beyond the main event, the menu extends to include salads and sandwiches, which shouldn't be ignored (think an attention-grabbing burger and a top-notch spicy fried chicken sandwich). I didn’t know what to expect when I made a reservation for myself & five of my friends to celebrate my 60th birthday but I was in for the best time. As soon as you walk in you are struck with the elegance of the bar area. Wait staff were very helpful & the view of the East River & Queens was stunning. We were treated incredibly well by our waitress, Elizabeth. The food was amazing & inventive. I would have liked the bar to have more choices, such as I would have loved a kir royale but that wasn’t available. Even though, we had a fabulous time.

I was so excited to have a chance to dine at Emilys while I was in NY. I got the burger because Dax Shepard talks about it so often on his Armchair Expert podcast and it did not disappoint!! It was so delicious and the waffle fries were also crispy and seasoned perfectly! I’m already looking forward to my next visit so I can have it again. Oh and the cocktails were delicious as well! :)
