Best Historic Restaurants in Brewerytown

We had a wonderful evening, sitting at the bar, eating delicious food, and chatting with Sean the bartender. Would absolutely go back and plan to on our next trip to Philly. Highly recommended.

They have maintained very high quality food with excellent service. The seating options are wonderful. We had a corner booth which was perfect.

From start to finish, we felt like we were in expert, caring hands. Even the person who checked our coats had a warm smile. The space is gorgeous (thank you Amanda) and the food was well-conceived and inventive without being show-offy, beautiful and completely delicious. The bay scallops were like a breath of fresh air. Thanks to Chef and the whole staff.

Wife and I came here for my birthday dinner. We arrived about 4:45 and the doors were locked. It was cold so we went across the street to a store to stay warm. A few minutes later the sign was illuminated so we correctly deduced the doors were unlocked. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The don’t seat people until 5 (not complaining, website says they open at 5). We opted to sit near the bar, which was open and serving drinks. At 5 we were seated at a table near the back. Although the place is dark, our table was well lit. We even asked for the table number to request on our next visit. Our old eyes didn’t need phone flashlights to read the menu. Our waitress (Ashley) knew the menu and answered all of our questions. As the restaurant filled up, she had 5 other tables to serve around 18 diners. Two of the tables were pushed together to accommodate a large party. Service was relaxed but didn’t suffer because there were other employees to help out. We ordered drinks which came promptly. We each ordered the Wedge Salad which was a softball sized head of iceberg lettuce, halved and covered with deliciousness. We should have ordered one to split between us. Wife ordered the Pork Chop, I ordered the 8 oz. Filet Mignon. Both were delicious and done to perfection. Of course, the real reason we chose Butcher & Singer is the Lemon Icebox Pie. We opted to take it to go. All-in-all, a great experience. We’ll definitely be returning.

Fabulous meal, with choices of food and wine meticulously explained. This dinner was immediately added to our top ten list of global dining experiences which include numerous Michelin starred restaurants. We highly recommend opting for the wine pairings with each dish, which not only delivered classic selections but also introduced us to wines we will seek out for our own cellar.
