Since our early days as a tea room, we’ve been a respite for locals and visitors alike, offering a haven for conversation and memorable cuisine. The tradition continues as our culinary team has curated an inventive and elevated menu through New American cuisine while paying homage to the beloved dishes that have been served at the Tabard Inn for years. Executive Chef Matthew Zafrir came to the Tabard in 2023, bringing with him experience from various fine dining restaurants around D.C. such as minibar by José Andrés, Cranes, Revelers Hour, as well as Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore, MD. He also shares the Tabard's longstanding commitment to sourcing ingredients locally. Join us for a meal on our covered patio or one of our intimate dining rooms. Or enjoy drinks and light fare in our historic fireplace lounge, where you can enjoy our creative cocktails! A DC institution since 1922, we look forward to offering our guests all the comforts of a home away from home.

We also have a wonderful hand-selected wine list to enhance your dining experience. Approximately eighty-percent of our menu is-- or can be-- gluten-free, as we use only canola and olive oil in all of our cooking. Some of our best-selling dishes are our southern fried chicken, grilled meatloaf, and crab cakes-- all which are gluten free! Other menu favorites include our deviled eggs, firecracker shrimp, Atlantic grilled salmon, roasted pork tenderloin, and penne pasta with andouille sausage & shrimp. We have beautiful year-round outdoor seating options on our wrap around porch (we have heaters!) In the warmer months, we also open our courtyard. We're also more than happy to accommodate business dinners or other special occasions in private rooms.

Incredible experience and ambiance! My boyfriend and I would literally rate this as our favorite restaurant that we’ve dined at, and that’s including restaurants in both Chicago and DC. Highly recommend the tuna crudo, the wagyu short rib, and the rack of lamb as they were exquisite. We also loved our cocktails!! Amazing experience, would absolutely recommend again.

Fantastic meal. We’ve done Thanksgiving dinner here a couple of times. Plenty of food and all the fixings with traditional turkey or ham. Emily, our server was amazing. Always book ahead because they get busy. Love the Georgetown location. You can always also order off the regular menu. Great clam chowder and crab cakes. We always eat at Clyde’s when visiting our daughter in DC.

It's been many years since I've been to the Tabard Inn, so long ago that I was living in Dupont on Riggs Place. It was low key and funky and much smaller. The present version is very different but equally enjoyable. Larger, still good food, but more space and fewer distractions. A great place to meet for breakfast and escape from the bustling of one of Washington's friendliest circles.

It is a great restaurant from top to bottom. Wonderful appetizers through main entree through desert. They could update the glasses of wine choices. Also they should slow down the serving between courses by about 5 to 10 minutes.
