We asked to sit inside as it was a little cold by water. Our first table was in a dark hallway. When I asked for a different table we were seated out side by the water. We literally had to shout to have a conversation. They cater to large groups and don’t give much thought to a couples dining experience. Also, we arrived thirteen before our reservation time and were told to return at the exact time of our reservation. From the bread, to the octopus app (OH, that octopus!), to our meals…all delicious, fresh, and prepared to perfection. I had the tuna, and my husband had the seafood pasta. Both full of flavor, good sized, and yummy. Our waitress was attentive on a busy night. A table of friends came in about halfway through our meal, which took some of her attention away, but we absolutely got what we needed. The only complaint was out of the restaurant’s control. Cries out for a carpet or any sound abatement that might allow conversation at a table for 2 to4. Miss the old original Gurney’s corny Italian rococo decor that was a relief from the now ubiquitous “ zen”running to “ Amish “ look of un inviting plain colorless Uber simple gray fixtures. Looks as if it was decorated by Monks who have taken a vow of poverty. Art work is all black, gray and during late fall no view of gorgeous ocean after early sunset.
