Best Hot Spot Restaurants in Near Southside

Reata is an icon Fort Worth restaurant. I preferred the old location but want their choice. Food awesome as always.

The restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Monday night. We were greeted and at our table immediately. Our bread and drinks arrived quickly. We ordered the wagyu meatballs, and it was an awesome appetizer. Our entrees were out in a reasonable amount of time considering the crowd. We both ordered baked potatoes which were not served hot. They clearly had been waiting for quite a while before they got to the table. Extra disappointing since they are $15 each. My filet was delicious and perfectly cooked (but also not as hot as it should have been). My wife's salmon was also very flavorful (but was also served warm and not hot). Our waiter was professional, friendly, and attentive. It was a great meal that could have been even more special if served correctly. We will likely be back to give them another try.

Excellent place to dine. David was great in explaining the menu and making suggestions. Antonio the manager stopped by the table and asked what could be improved. So we had a spirited discussion about my sampling of the French fries from my travels over the years. He took seriously my comments about what I’ve learned from chefs coast to coast about how to make the perfect order of fries to pair with a New York strip steak. He told me he would pass my comments on to his chef for considerations. I’ll be back soon!

Elegant restaurant for date night and group gatherings. Slightly understated decor yet nice why….because the food is the star of show. Incredible selection of steaks all cooked to perfection . I’ll be back for more.

Great food! Pop overs were almost as good as the steak. Mash potatoes need a little work though
