Best Neighbourhood Gem Restaurants in Countryside

Had a relaxing lunch with delicious food and excellent service!

I am not a fan of Indian food in general, but I always find something at Kama Bistro that is quite tasty. Not too spicy (they let you choose!) and not too strong in spices.

We ate in the bar and tried their Prime Cheeseburger and Fries. We were pleased at how good they tasted. The burger is juicy and huge! The fries are crispy and plentiful. We started by splitting a Caesar salad that we probably should have skipped because we could not finish the burgers. Our server, Samantha, was friendly and helpful when we ordered. She has been there a while and is quite knowledgeable about the restaurant. She is a great server! I am a club member and had trouble accessing my account to be able to us a reward I earned. Samantha had a co-worker help me get into my account and reset it so I could access it and redeem the reward. That was very nice and thoughtful of her to do this for me. Great Service!

Thassos is a place where families go to have a nice weekend dinner, and so do dates, singles and friends. We made a reservation on Saturday morning on Opentable, and got a 5:30 reservation for 2 in a room that was pretty quiet, and we had the option to sit in a booth. Nice start! We have been here before with family and friends, so we decided just to pick several appetizers to sample more than just two entrees. Our picks--shared a greek salad to start, then ordered charbroiled sardines (great if you love fish), dolmades (stuffed grapevine leaves with minced meat and rice in light lemon sauce) and spanokopita (crispy baked phyllo with feta and spinach inside). Perfect amount of food for the two of us. I had a glass of wine and spouse had a soda. Bill before tax and tip was about $70. I would recommend dining early to avoid a noisy environment because Thassos does get busy after 6 pm.

Had a wonderful Valentine’s Day 2025 dinner at Prasino. The snowy Chicago weather meant it wasn’t overly crowded, making for a cozy and intimate experience. The ambiance was excellent, and while the entrée selection was somewhat limited, every dish was flavorful and well-prepared. Service was attentive and professional. Highly recommend for a date night or a business dinner!
