Welcome to Mikey and Mel’s, a living tribute to two great men who knew and loved a great deli experience. Our dad, Mikey and grandfather, Mel were deli “regulars,” dining at their favorite Cleveland, Ohio places. Mikey and grandfather. They savored juicy pastrami and corned beef, amazingly fresh pickles and intensely huge deserts. Their daily deli lunches were times to conduct business, strike deals and make friends. We often joined our dad and grandfather at the deli table. We remember the sights, smells and sounds of our favorite local deli–from the simple comforting decor to the aroma of deli meats and sour pickles. We also recall the brash and snarky staff. While we will always miss Mikey and Mel, we’ve decided there’s no better way to pay homage to two great men than by opening an old fashioned deli named for them. We had oysters --the only place where I eat oysters, they are fresh, from northern cold waters--, they were delicious, so was the octopus salad, and the creme brulee for dessert. Service was excellent tonight even though the place was packed. One of my favorite restaurant for sure.

It was a great experience. We did the Chefs Experience and Aaron was simply amazing. Thoroughly explained every dish, we took shots, and he even made some great recommendations. We were celebrating a birthday and the kitchen wished us a happy birthday and had great fun energy. It was just an overall good time. Good food, drinks and people! I’ll be back!

Excellent location for a celebration. Best drinks around - though the beer menu could be expanded! Adequate selection of wines… but that’s all drinks! You go there for the FOOD… and GOOD it is. Not high brow but a use of spices that is tantalizing without tongue-numbing as some places. The best evidence is the subtle smoke flavor of the Baba Ganousch…the BEST! Only fault was we were not forewarned of the 3% surcharge on using credit; had we known we would have brought cash… next time, for sure. ;-)
