And what began in 1963 continues to this day, holding to its German roots through its rustic Alpine lodge decor, extensive beer selection and annual Oktoberfest celebration. Best food I’ve had in years. So well balanced. Started with the oysters and a light salad. Nothing overdone, salad light and refreshing, oysters and house made cocktail sauce perfect. We had the scallops and steak frites. Both perfect. Best of all, the deserts were perfectly sized. Just enough to top off the meal. Both the chocolate torte and carrot cake were great, but the carrot cake with the layers of flavors was so inspired. Light whipped cream on top, spicy carrot cake, salt on a base of more whipped cream, and a satsuma glaze on the bottom. Thank you for a wonderful last night in New Orleans.

This restaurant is the right place for lunch or dinner, anytime!! It was my first time there and I was not disappointed. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable; Sarah was our server, and I couldn't be happier and more impressed with her service. We had some family from San Francisco for the holidays and this place added to our Christmas season!!
