Akahoshi Ramen is a humble ramen shop in the city of Chicago. Everything is made in the restaurant, including all soups, seasonings, toppings, and noodles. We are not an authentic ramen shop, though we value the history of ramen, and our ramen is influenced by its past and its future potential. The dish, popularized in Japan after World War 2, is symbolic of both struggle and perseverance. It is both a simple dish, and a fantastically complex one that we treat with reverence and respect. Roughly translating to “Red Star,” the name “Akahoshi” is a love letter to two cities; Sapporo, Hokkaido, where red stars adorn city monuments, and Chicago, Illinois, where the red star decorates the city flag. Excellent innovative food. Quality of the wines for the pairing option is very low but, amazingly enough, they taste quite well with the meal. Still, they should offer good wines to match their outstanding cuisine. Our waitress was amazing, knowledgeable while not overdoing it, and attentive to provide good service to us and surrounding tables Great job !

We had a great experience at Akahoshi Ramen. Casper was wonderful and attentive! We sat at the counter and enjoyed sipping on our delicious cocktails as we watched the ramen being made! My husband enjoyed the midwestern ramen and I had the Akahoshi. It was SO delicious that my husband had a second round of ramen. HIGHLY recommend and cannot wait to visit here again. Until then, I’ll be dreaming about it.

Very friendly staff and good service. Delicious coffee- I bought beans to take home. The bakery goods are wonderful and it’s fun to watch the bakers in the separate open kitchen by the front windows.
