   We had a great Christmas Eve dinner with our family. Food and wine was very good and the service was fantastic. Fire and Oak is a great local gem!

   We’ve dined here on Christmas Eve before and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the experience. This year the service was slow. My seat was split and repaired with tape. Our food was well prepared and delicious. When the bill came I noted the 22% (after tax??) service charge . When I inquired it was explained. This should have been noted with the presentation of the check at least. Disappointing-

   Cynthia - Thank you for visiting with us on Christmas Eve. I am sorry to hear that we did not meet the expectations that we had sent from previous years. I'm not sure why the check would have come up with a pre tax gratuity amount, as the system automatically calculates that amount, and I verified that it is currently working properly. If it did, please call me here at the restaurant and I would be able to refund you the amount. I do apologize that it was not explained to you upon presentation of the check. I have spoken with the serves from that night. I do hope that you return soon, as your experience was the exception, not the norm, for our guests, as well as for your own past experiences.    We chose to dine here for a birthday celebration lunch. The service was excellent (thanks, John) and the food did not disappoint. The cod sandwich and salmon salad were the favorites at the table. Albeit a tad pricey, the portions were huge, the presentation top notch and the service was excellent - we were not rushed and even comped a dessert for the birthday girl. I would go back

   We’ve been to this restaurant multiple times and it’s always been one of our favorites. We’ve even introduced many people to it. However, we had a disappointing experience this time. The service was low, especially since we were waited on by a particular server for the second time. While he wasn’t particularly friendly to us, he was quite friendly with other patrons. As for the food, it was also disappointing. Our appetizers were overcooked, our sides were cold, and the fries had to be sent back because they were barely warm and tasted like they had been reheated. Unfortunately, the second batch was not an improvement.

I saw your review pop up on my phone and wanted to send you a quick note to apologize for the experience that you had with us last night as it is not the norm for our guests. For everything that can go wrong in this business, proper customer service, a pleasant gesture, and a smile, should be something expected. So much could go wrong...that should be one of the guaranteed deliverables! I will discuss this with this server the first chance that I get, as this is unusual for the service he normally provides.     Went to celebrate a birthday. Great experience. The steaks were delicious. Restaurant had a nice ambience. Service was great as well.
