   The bread apps were really good, also tried the mussels which was okay and light in flavor. The burrata was really good. The mushroom risotto was watery and really light in flavor. Had the sausage and orecchiette pasta which was really good as well. The main dining room area was smoky from the oven I assumed and super loud. The room off to the side was nice and quiet and out of the way. Overall, good experience.

   Good in the past, but Saturday night pre-Christmas food was mediocre and some food just bad. Unfortunately inconsistent with the past; uncertain of this was a function of a busy night, change in staff, or other.

   The food and atmosphere are always great. You can always count on a number of menu items and there are always 1 or 2 new things to try every few months. Fortunato is our favorite Italian Restaurant in Roanoke and is part of our dining rotation (which means we are there 5 or 6 times a year). We are never disappointed, especially when Trevor is our waiter. We always order the bread service and flip between the Frito Misto (Calamari) and the Burratta for appetizers. My wife tried their new swordfish dish which was excellent, I had the Risotto and our grown son had the Tagliatelle Bolognese. We also had some great cocktails but skipped dessert.

   Absolutely love Fortunato! Roanoke is lucky to have this trendy restaurant serving up delicious Italian classics but with a creative, culinary “spin”! From the appetizers, to the salads, pasta, pizzas and all the way to dessert- there’s nothing else like it!
