Almost three hours for a Prix Fix dinner. Food was cold and mediocre.

It was a while since I'd dined here. I was surprised by how empty it was and it seems like they're short-staffed or keeping their labor costs low. The food quality has also diminished. I got the Virginia Eggs Benedict, it was flavorless, the home fries were bland and not crispy at all. The best thing were the complimentary breakfast muffins and my partner's steak. The waiter had five or six tables to himself. He did an outstanding job keeping up with every table and providing quality service to each. Our coffee mugs and water glasses were never empty!

The ceiling was falling down due to water and the bathrooms were not updated- so awful and smelled

My husband and I took our twelve year old daughter and all three of us really enjoyed it. We had the duck, the filet, and the crab mac and cheese. All three dishes were outstanding! The tables are close making it easy to overhear if voices get too loud but I didn't find it distracting at all. The staff was wonderful all stopping to assist or clear our table even if they weren't our main server. The only SMALL issue was it being so cold the entire time. I still say five stars because there wasn't much staff could do. The tables were close to the door so every time the large door opened we were hit with a cold blast. A large (20+) group of men came in and the door was open for longer than maybe it needed to be. Aside from that there was nothing we would change and we will be back!

What an amazing dinner in such a historical place. A must see and experience. We will be back to try other things from the menu.

Lovely dinner with attentive staff and beautiful location. The food was good, not great, but the overall dining experience made the trip worth while. Would recommend to first-time visitors to Alexandria for sure!

Went here for my brother’s 29th birthday with family and it was perfect. Very nice spot with friendly staff, great drinks, and delicious food. $48 filet was up there with the best steak my mom has ever had, and everything else was amazing as well. I would recommend this restaurant packed with history for any nice occasion.

Authentic early American tavern. At first impression it is austere- quiet with very plain interior. But the appeal of the interior is what it should be. Service was above average it’s a small staff with honest service. Drinks - we got the Rum punch bowl for the table, good choice considering it’s a “tavern”. Main course- 5 stars goes to the lamb chops. 5 stars to the filet mignon. We asked for “medium rare” they delivered all dishes perfectly as ordered. Enjoy yourself here- we ended up having a 2 hour dinner enjoying the company of friends and excellent food. I spent $300 for a table of 7. Well worth the experience. This place is obviously popular with the locals as there were only 2-3 empty tables. Congratulations to the staff.

We expect to love everything about Gadsby’s Tavern but we did. The wait staff was on point; the food was delicious and a visit from entertainer John Hall was an unexpected treat. We will definitely be back!
