The former owners of the Venezia Bar & Grill and Café Venezia, Benito and Hilda Gamba, have combined their efforts into the Gamba Ristorante. Located in Merrillville, this restaurant is housed in an architectural masterpiece, which is hard to miss with its circular design and copper roof. Modeled after upscale restaurants in exotic European locations, the menu offers classic Italian cuisine. The wine room boasts storage space for 1,000 bottles.     We used to go to the Signature Room in Chicago for our anniversary dinner. Since that restaurant has been closed down, we needed a new place to go, so we tried Gamba. It was AMAZING. Our food was delicious and served super hot. The appetizer we had was calamari and it was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was beautiful and the feel of family was felt throughout; from the pictures on the walls to the servers. Highly recommend Gamba.

    I love this restaurant. I have been here a few times and I always have a positive experience. The food is excellent and the service is magnificent. The owner is a wonderful man.

    I FEEL THERE COULD HAVE BEEN MORE CHOICES. THE STEAK WAS LIKE RUBBER AND VERY HARD TO CUT. THE BREAD CRUST WAS HARD.

    As you enter the restaurant, you're welcomed by a warm atmosphere and a friendly bartender. Be sure to make a reservation in advance, as the place fills up quickly. Once seated, your attentive server greets you with a smile and shares the evening's specials while offering drinks. Feel free to ask them any questions about the menu, as they are very knowledgeable. The restaurant operates like a well-oiled machine, with each employee focused on providing excellent service. I highly recommend dining at Gamba for a delightful night out or lunch, guaranteed to offer quality food, fair prices, and an enjoyable atmosphere with friends, family, or colleagues.

    The food was fantastic, the service much less so. Service was very slow but we did see that our waiter was also taking care of a small private party. Refills on drinks except for coffee and water were difficult to get. Had to look for waiter to get dinner bill and had to finally flag down someone else to take our payment so we could leave. Don’t know if the excellent food trumps the very slow and lackadaisical service.

    We had a table in the wine room. It was wonderful. The food was excellent, and the service was excellent. Couldn’t ask for a better evening.
