Located in the heart of Savannah"s historic City Market, Garibaldi is housed in the 1871 Germanian Fire House. Built in classic Paladdian architecture, the building is a beautiful presence in the market area. In the fashion of the era, the firehouses were commonly community meeting places. Thus, the Germanian Society erected a Grand Ballroom on the second floor of the building. With sixteen foot ceilings, fourteen foot arched windows and vintage iron chandeliers, it is one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Savannah, seating 120 and complete with its own private bar. The main floor is a beautiful Victorian room with lavish gilt mirrors, original pressed tin ceiling, romantically illuminated with whimsical chandeliers. Garibaldi offers a variety of menus, and specializes in customizing menus to your specific needs. Gracious service and outstanding food is our highest goal and has helped us earn the Zagat Award of Distinction once again for 2011/12.

Ambiance and service were amazing! Food was definitely subpar. Very very fishy seafood. Not worth the price of the food in my opinion.

Delicious food, but could have been hotter. They were very accommodating to split meals in kitchen that we wanted to share which was very nice. Beautiful atmosphere!

Bobby was our waiter and provided amazing service!! The food was wonderful - fried shrimp and fried green tomatoes as appetizer with hearts of palm salad, lasagna and carbonara. The best part was the berries, cinnamon ice cream and pecan praline basket for and dark chocolate torte for dessert.

Tough to review…the dishes were inconsistent. The calamari was not freshly made, must have been sitting in the back for a while and was just “warm” and batter was no longer crispy. French onion soup was a disappointment…had a funky taste at end and needed salt- and was just “warm”. Shrimp & grits were awesome. Halibut special was tasty but risotto was undercooked. Seafood Alfredo and chicken piccata were solid. Praline cup dessert tasted burnt but pecan pie was decent. Wait staff was very personable but it took a very long time to get our entrees and dessert. Probably a one and done for me.

We were looking forward to a great evening celebrating both of our birthdays. The hostess accommodated our desire to sit upstairs, which was very nice. Our server was very sweet and seemed to have the utmost good intention. Unfortunately, it took quite a while to get our drinks, which were not what we ordered. Then it took 30 to 45 minutes to receive a bowl of French onion soup which was tasty, however it seemed like an awfully long time to have to wait for it to be brought to table. The server talked my husband out of the scallops, and instead recommended the halibut which was the special of the day. Of course, what was brought to him was the scallops after yet another very lengthy delay in excess of 30 minutes I ordered the veal chop which was delicious and cooked perfectly, but the slow service and several mistakes put a damper on the evening. Far too many mistakes and slow service for this type of restaurant.

It was amazing! Arnold was our server and he was terrific! We indulged in a New York strip, seafood fettuccine, and lobster linguine. All of it was delicious. The ambience was upscale and delightful! I highly recommend!

I booked this for dinner after getting engaged earlier in the day. I could not have been more thrilled with my choice. We were immediately congratulated upon being seated on our engagement, which very few restaurants ever read the notes I put in - I feel anyway. My fiance and I shared the garlic mussels and couldn’t get enough, especially since we normally love red sauce. This was fantastic! She got the salmon, which was far better than another restaurant in Savannah that we had just a day prior. My crispy duck was so good and the soy glaze put the exclamation point on it. The bourbon pecan pie was one of the best pecan pies I’ve ever had, and the drinks were incredible to boot. I believe our server’s name was Bobby, I couldn’t hear upon seating just due to a swell of noise, but he was unbelievable. His ability to orate the menu but with personal flair shows he has some serious chops in the business for years to come. 5 stars isn’t enough!
