I love this place and the vibe but not sure what happened to the quality of the food. It was served like warm at best and the Sauerkraut wasn’t what it used to be either. To top it off the grape cheesecake was stale which I just thought was unacceptable but nobody seemed to really care. I won’t be coming back until there’s an improvement.

The food, service and setting is lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend anyone to go. The only negative was that the room was cold which spoilt it for me.

Food was a bit expensive for what it is. Beer reasonably priced but cheapest wine £8 for a small glass! Service was absent for certain periods as it got busier. Nice atmosphere & beautiful building which was the main reason we went.

If a restaurant gives you a 2hr window in which you’re expected to eat and leave… they should extend the courtesy the other way round. We’ve just had dinner and it took from 6 until 8.45pm. We would still be there and waiting for the coffee if we hadn’t complained…. We sat down and ordered immediately - it was so slow and the restaurant itself was half empty and really cold. We were disappointed the famous Christmas tree was already down (2nd January) and relieved we’d been to a matinee theatre rather than evening performance. Disappointed and unlikely to be back.

Strange service, seemed to have loads of staff, spend most of their time around the tills / terminals in groups not looking at customers, when they did come over most of the staff were offhand, not rude, just seemed annoyed that they had customers. Food was a mixed bag, some good, some terrible. Kids meal was mostly sauerkraut. Not the restaurant it used to be.

Dear James, Thank you for your recent visit and for taking the time to leave us your feedback. It is very disappointing to read that the service was lacking, considering it was not that busy. As the busy festive period has gone- we will definitely work on improving service as the experience you had is far from the standard we normally hold ourselves to. It is lovely to hear that you enjoyed the atmosphere and we hope to have the pleasure of serving you again and earning a higher rating in the future. Warm Regards, Jo & GG Team

My wife and I dined for New Year's Eve with a booking for 9pm. When we arrived, we were told of a 10 minute delay with tables and that we could wait by the bar upstairs. Ultimately, we weren't seated until 9.45pm, during which time we had to loiter with various other stressed guests and staff. This delay might have been tolerable if we had been offered a complimentary drink or similar, but instead we had to spend £20 ourselves for the privilege of hanging around all this time. Initial impressions were also disappointing when we saw the wonderful Christmas Tree and all decorations had been taken down (although heavily featured in the promotional materials for the evening on the website and social media). Things almost went from bad to worse when we were told that of the limited choice set menu, they had run out of beef, leaving us with only two main course options - vegan or cod, neither of which we wanted. After escalating the issue, they managed to find two emergency beef dishes in the kitchen (so situation just about rescued, but it did little to counter our negative first impressions!). The delays with the table and then the main course issue also meant we couldn't really enjoy the first band (which we very much liked) who then finished by the time everything was straightened out. The food was ok when it came to the starters and dessert, but the beef was a little tough and cold. Not sure I would have paid more than half the £98 ticket price for the food though. The main 'party' band came on at 11.30pm and they did a good job - although they only played until 12.30am, which was disappointing as things were just livening up. I guess this is why people started to leave at this point rather than staying for the DJ. We've been to this restaurant before and enjoyed it which is why we chose to come, but on this occasion it was a disappointment given the various factors above and the fact it was meant to be a special night.

We were at the end of the balcony on the first floor. There was a good party atmosphere. Everyone dressed up for New Year. The food was very good and the first band 3 girl singers) in particular, were excellent. Romanian pinot noir and Warsteiner stein also recommended.
