Whilst the food was delicious, once it arrived, the service was incredibly slow. We arrived at 3pm and weren’t eating our mains till nearly 5pm. The lift was broken which made it difficult for a member of our party with mobility issues (I had requested the ground floor when booking). The gents toilets were dirty. The staff were polite and helpful when these things were pointed out and they did remove the drinks and service charge from our bill.

Eight of us enjoyed a tremendous feed of excellent German style produce, the giant pork knuckle especially good. A good selection of beer and wine accompanied our meal, complimented by very good service. I thoroughly recommend booking.

Awful service. It took an hour before we had our main courses with no check in from the server. A 20 minute wait for a single dessert was concluded by being asked to leave our table because we had been there 2 hours. This was our second trip to GG but there won’t be a third. There are plenty better options in this area, find something else.

Was given a table right behind the check in desk, howling wind was blowing on us from the door being constantly opened, asked to be moved, got moved to the table next door right beside the door that brings the food out and the dirty dishes being brought in, still very cold from the door, now the trays going back and forth around you, my husbands chair had a broken leg so that also had to be changed. I’ve eaten here 3 times, twice upstairs and once downstairs and I can’t understand why you’d give someone this table when you know they’re going to spend at least 200. Pounds on food and drink and reserve a better table for couples that are just drinking one drink and not ordering any food, it was very disappointing and I told the women at the booking in desk once I’d paid and was leaving. The food was excellent as it always is .

We have dined here before and really enjoyed it but this time, a busy Friday before Christmas it eas spoiled a little by a rude waiter who made us feel that we were a real inconvenience. I did think of changing the 13.4% service change (£32) for this but in the hope that it went to the team not our stroppy waiter. Great food, fairly expensive but we knew that.

Great venue with great choice of food and good atmosphere. The schnitzels are amazing and the pork knuckle was out of this world!

Good food ( although one meal was cold and had to go back ) good venue , but a really odd booking policy. I booked for 13 originally but that meant our party became an event as it was more than 12 , needed a set menu , couldn’t sit in the grand cafe , basically couldn’t give us what we wanted. So I booked a 6 and a 7 and asked way before time if we could be together. With very little planning it could have been done, but they couldn’t when we arrived. The head lady was keen to make the point that I really should have booked via the events team to get us all together. So, just increase the limit from 12 to 14 when booking the grand cafe. It can be done easily.
