   Yes there are expensive items on the menu, but there are reasonable options as well that are a great value when taking in the environment.

   We 4 checked in early and were seated early. The hostess was gracious. Obie was a great waiter ( friendly, fast, and effective). Our meals (especially the cauliflower pickled onion, pepper onion dish was outstanding) were as described , timely, tasty and the proper temperature.

   Six of us ate there. We loved the Gertie Burger. Delish. Everyone loved the gorgonzola and garlic dip. The Elote was also good. The soup (Pozole Chicken) was just alright. Not bad but not great. One of us got the hummus and didn't like it at all. To be fair, had she said something to the waiter he would have taken it away and gotten her something else. But she didn't, because she was happy the shared food and chips she had. The point is, hummus was tasted by 2 people at the table and both agreed, "not good". But everything else lovely.

   Steak and boar were great. Service was great. Atmosphere at sunset was superb. Not sure why this place has such low ratings.

   Excellent food in a beautiful location. I liked that they close at 8pm so if you are seated at 730 you don’t feel pressured to leave so they can seat another party.

   Love Gertrude’s always love the food and the menu. We were greeted with a lovely birthday card. And desert at the end. That it was nice. When we ordered, we were assured that the salmon would not be overdone, and it was dry and very overdone. After our initial drink, we were never offered another drink or given water again. A missed opportunity for more drink sales for sure. We had to ask twice for water. After we received our food no one ever came in to check with us to see if we liked our food. Or we would’ve sent the salmon back.

    Ii really enjoy Gertrude’s- it’s incredible! I have never had a subpar experience. I highly recommend you go explore the gardens and cap off your experience with a most delightful meal at Gertrude’s. Note- it’s not a children friendly menu. If you have your kiddos with you there are many places close to the gardens to get a meal.
