   Gertrude’s had a nice menu. We sat outside in the patio and thankful we did as it was really noisy inside. Waitress was as attentive and helpful with recommendations. We shared the elote fritters to start. They were tasty. Two people ordered the Gertrude burger and it was very good. One ordered the lentil chop bowl with a side of shrimp that was tasty. We also had an order of the lamb enchiladas which I would not recommend. The mole sauce was over powering and there wasn’t much lamb.

   There's something decidedly civilized about dining al fresco in December when the rest of the country shivers through winter's early descent. Gertrude's at the Desert Botanical Garden understands this privilege, and on a balmy 80-degree afternoon, they orchestrated a lunch service that would make even the most jaded restaurateur take notice. The true mark of excellence in service isn't in the grand gestures, but in the subtle dance of anticipation and delivery. Bryce, our server, demonstrated this art with remarkable finesse – present when needed, invisible when not, maintaining that delicate balance that separates the professionals from the merely competent. The menu, while firmly rooted in southwestern sensibilities, shows flashes of innovation that catch one's attention. Their hummus duo – a roasted red chili version paired with pipian verde – arrives with an array of pristine raw vegetables and house-made tortilla chips that crack with satisfying precision. It's the kind of dish that makes you wonder why more restaurants don't take such care with seemingly simple preparations. The chicken posole, while generous in portion, needed a bolder hand with seasoning – a rare misstep in an otherwise carefully considered meal. However, the gertie burger more than compensated: eight ounces of quality Angus beef, properly handled and cooked, topped with sharp cheddar and caramelized onions that had been given the time to develop their full potential. The black pepper-ranch aioli showed restraint and judgment, while the accompanying fingerling potatoes arrived with the kind of crisp exterior that speaks of proper technique and attention to detail. The draft Irish Red Ales proved an inspired choice for the season – refreshing enough for the desert air while carrying the weight and complexity appropriate for the holiday season.    We had a wonderful dining experience at Gertrude’s. Josh, our waiter was great and gave excellent service. And the food was amazing! Looking forward to our next visit.

   Always enjoy visiting the gardens & having lunch or dinner at your fine restaurant. Next year we will make dinner reservations & stay for holidays lights. Your food is always delicious & fresh. Farm to table is what we enjoy. Our waiter Josh was great. Will ask for him again. Thank you.

   Naomi was great. She knew the menu inside and out. I have many food allergies and she made sure my food was just right. She is good at upselling and her recommendations were excellent. Of course the food was great as always. I will request Naomi every time we dine with you. You guys are blessed to have her. Trust me I know I’m a 49 year hospitality veteran and I know great service when I see and receive it. Facility was clean and well maintained. My hat’s off to you all. Happy Holidays.

    Today, I treated my best friend to brunch for her birthday. It was her first time and my second time dining at Gertrude’s and it was nothing short of amazing. Truly a perfect Sunday from the weather to food and service. Our server was Catherine and she was absolutely wonderful and delightful. The two other staff members that we interacted with were kind as well. Thanks Olivia and Anita for your patience and assistance. I can’t wait to return!
