This is the story of Paolo and Matteo, two guys from Milano who had an idea. Let's take the heart of our tradition and fuse it with the exciting innovations happening in Italian cooking, they said. Inspired by the Roman deity Janus who looked to the future as well as the past, Giano respects tradition and embraces the future. We like to think of our little corner in the east village as quite special, and hope you will too

Both our pastas (truffle ragu rigatoni and tagliatelle with mushroom) were absolutely outstanding and the tiramisu was one of the best I’ve ever had! They also served bread with olive oil that went with the meal perfectly.

Truly such a gem. Every time I visit Giano it’s always a 6 star experience. I look forward to this meal and the hospitality every single time. Big shoutout to Roberta and paulo for always exceeding my expectations. Anyone I bring to this gem is always leaving satisfied and happy.

Very nice staff greeted us. It was much smaller than I anticipated and we sat at a table towards the back where I was looking at a prep area and cleaning bottle. Not the most appetizing ambiance. Food was good. Waiter put bread in little bag for our table with bare hands and had just been on his cell phone. You would have hoped he would use gloves or a napkin to pick up bread. No liquor only wine. Overall okay.

The service was amazing. The food was fantastic, and the Italians who own it were authentic and caring for us. A true Italian expirence that I will surely never forget nor think twice when recommending my favorite Italian spot. Saluté to the masters of their craft.
