   A great New Year’s Day meal to celebrate 2025! Sometimes the front desk team here is rude and inhospitable which has always been a turn off for me. Yesterday I understood why. The people who want to walk-in here are ruthless and impatient; inundating the host desk relentlessly. Parties of 6 with 3 strollers demanding a table. As long as you make a reservation, you’ll be good! Food is always delicious. Can’t wait to try more brunch items next time.

   New Years Day and we wanted some place that we knew would be fantastic, so where else but Gjelina? It was busy but the hosts and servers were unfailingly polite. We ordered 6 things from the menu. My wife's vegan so she had the vegetable sandwich (she had to fight me for it, it was so good). Brussel sprouts, grilled fennel, and the frites were all great. My son and I split the anchovy and burrata toast - a first for me - and it's my new favorite. Finished with the excellent pomodoro pizza - no cheese and none needed, because the jammy tomato confit is the star of the dish. I love this place. It never lets me down. Happy 2025!

   Our service was very poor and we were crammed into a corner in the very back of the restaurant, despite many open tables and asking to move elsewhere. Frustrating to then have 20% service charge automatically included. While the food at Gjelina is great, do not believe we will return soon.

   We have been going to Gjelina since it opened and have seen many transitions . Last night they pulled the rabbit out of the hat . We sat on the roof with heaters . The waiter was smart, funny and knowledgable. Stand out dishes . Duck confit , Carrots Mushrooms , Fennel and as always the date cake .

   I know NYE is a busy night for restaurants but we were very disappointed in our experience at Gjelina. The food was good but arrived in a very disorganized manner with us waiting almost 30 minutes for our last dish and then another almost 30 minutes before we got dessert menus. I even joked that we could walk out and no one would notice. The worst part was the service, which keep in mind your bill is automatically tipped 20%. Our sever never engaged with us, never checked on us, took a plate away from me while I was mid bite, and suggested we were ordering to much food. While the food was good, we won’t be returning bc of the service.

   Our server was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and professional. Rooftop was perfect with heaters everywhere so you aren’t cold. Food was amazing!

   Very fun, bustling restaurant with delicious food and wonderful service. Try the sweet potatoes, the angle to pasta , the salami pizza, the Gruyère and onion pizzas , and the little gem salad.

   The food was just not as good as I remember and the service was a bit disappointing. Gjelina used to be my favorite restaurant when I lived in Venice. It's seems to have shifted and sadly, I don't feel compelled to go again.

    Menu had a lot of great options hard to decide. had 6 Oysters and loved the toppings they gave. Labneh with homemade perserves wonderful. main courses were fine, not great honestly. Maybe we should have gone with the pizza everyone was having. We sat up on the Roof, which I didnt really care for but much better than the VERY loud and many children in the main area. All staff was polite and helpful. Wish we had room for dessert as it looked fabulous too. We got some of the banana bread to go and that was great. Ordered Latte- they don't have 1/2 and 1/2 which I found odd, so had Oat milk, but no sugar offered. Id go back to try other items, but part of menu hit and miss and maybe server knows hes getting 20% they dont try harder for bigger tip, even though I tipped more.
