Amazing historic place to have a drink or, better yet, a super amazing dinner with a history lesson. Our great waitress Sarah told us about the history of the hotel. We start off with warm fresh out of oven frococia bread with soft tasty butter,the avocado salad wad so refreshing. The pork belly appetizer is a must! I opted for the vegetarian dish a tasty rissoto with mushrooms... was very nice. My hunny had the pork chop-excellent! Our friend enjoyed the mock turtle soup, which was very good. At the end, we enjoyed the pannacotta... super tasty & not overly sweet.

This was our second time dining here. We stayed at the US Grant and decided to grab brunch before heading back to LA. We were sat at a nice booth where we could see the beautiful day and Jose was our server. He was very attentive as well as the young woman who greeted and sat us to the person who brought our drinks and food. I would definitely return.

Read that this place was old school- it is and that’s a huge compliment! Met upfront with courtesy and professionalism. Accepted our seating request with utmost aplomb. White linen with approachable elegance. Great drinks and reasonably priced wine by glass. Food was excellent complementary dessert for anniversary was nice final touch . Even with a huge formal Marines event in ball room nearby the dining room still felt intimate. Hotel bar had a lively ( but not overly loud) 3 piece band playing which could pleasantly be heard in dining room.

This place never disappoints. Always consistently delicious with GREAT service and a lovely ambiance. A special treat to eat before going to the San Diego Civic!
