Charming
Good for special occasions

We began in 1964. It was the time of the Beatles and Rolling Stones and an air of great fun. Anything seemed possible, it was the Sixties! Grumbles was the first restaurant in London with a silly name!

In the early days as we rushed around the tables, we hardly had time to notice the faces of the likes of Beatles, Mamas and Papas, Julie Christie, Michael Foot, Christine Keeler, Ian le Frenais, Rod Steiger and so many many more as well as Jane Lapotaire sometimes helping with the Founder Jeremy Friend washing up!

Grumbles and its customers have been such a winning combination for over 60 years and we thank you for all your support.

Four of us get together several times a year for lunch . And we always meet at Grumbles. Great atmosphere and comfort food. The bench seat booths are excellent for conversation - through the afternoon . The set lunch offers good choices and excellent value. And wide choice a la carte. Currently waiting for booking slots to go live for our next visit

everything was delicious but the Mexican style crayfish starter was particularly delicious. My main was liver which was cooked to perfection and I think the frites were possibly the best I have ever had. one of my friends had a dish of moules marinieres which was also excellent.

We enjoyed an excellent lunch for four on New Year's Eve. It wasn't too busy, our food was very well cooked and presented, and the service was pleasant and unfussy. It was all that we had hoped for.

Fabulous! My daughter’s 19th birthday. Have eaten here many times. The best place to go for a quiet dinner or a lively celebration depending on your mood.
