                              Food not what it used to be. Had steak pie years ago and the pastry was melt in your mouth good. This was just an average pie with too much pastry and no veg.

                              My wife and I have been enjoying 3 night pre-Christmas breaks in York for many years and have dined on numerous occasions in The Guy Fawkes Inn. We have always enjoyed our evenings here but last night was not one of those evenings. Despite requesting a nice cosy table for two well in advance of our booking we were allocated what we consider to be the worst table in the house (table 2) - between an open door and the cutlery draws. This completely spoiled our evening. On top of this, the main I was so looking forward to - Marinated Monkfish Tail was not available. So unfortunately this was a below par evening for us. That said, customers on other (decent) tables seemed to enjoy their evenings.

                              Overall the meal was ok Service and ambiance very good,however, my main course was disappointing. I plumbed for the lamb rump which was very dry And pretty tasteless. My wife chose the pie which was very nice. The general atmosphere was great ....just wish I had chosen the pie too.

                              Fantastic meal with great atmosphere. Only disappointment was that there was no lamb nor monkfish left

                              Food was very well presented and delicious. Service was attentive. We had a nice table for 5 where conversation could flow without it being too noisy. We recommend!

                              We had my birthday meal at Guy fawkes Inn york Had the steak with home made chips with pepper corn sauce and was delicious 😋 The service is perfect, friendly and Very attentive. Outside seating is lovely, with heating , cushions and throws for that colder night. We went mid November and was freezing but not in the garden, was very warm and cosy. Definitely looking forwards to our yearly visit next year.

                              What a wonderful location and atmosphere- the staff were incredibly welcoming and the food and drink was fantastic.

                              Lovely pub restaurant though the toilets leave something to be desired and it’s a bit of a mission to get past the bar during busy times.
