   Everything was great as usual. A way better value and experience than mamas fish house. Ive been eating at haliimaile general store since they opened and have never received anything less than great service. Its definitely upscale dining without overpricing. Eventhough ownership has changed over years the quality has continued . Will be coming back again an again. If youre not dining here then youre wasting your time and your money.

   Reservations for lunch had us seated on time. We ordered the crab pizza, bao buns and coconut fish curry. The crab pizza is little more than some cream cheese with tiny bits of crab melted onto a piece of naan bread. Not quite worth the $17 price tag. The bao buns were delicious but the buns, while perfectly puffy and pillowy, overwhelmed with their size, the ingredients inside. As an appetizer, a smaller bun (to fit the ingredients inside) would be far less noticeable. The curry was described as “not spicy” and it was exactly that…bland could have accompanied the description as well. The fish, in the curry, was overcooked and dry - even while swimming in the curry broth. Overall an average experience, nothing worth noting to the server at the time of dining, but our takeaway nonetheless. I would not be compelled to return other than to try the fried chicken sandwich - which we were told by others after our visit was “da bomb”….

   We booked for 6.30pm - arrived at 6.28pm and was told to wait at the bar. Table became available at 7.04pm. Please don’t take a specific time booking if you cannot honor it. We come here often …. and we drive 40 mins Food was simply outstanding once again. The country salad is the crispiest, freshest and most pleasant on the entire island. Bone-in pork chop was well prepared, tender and very, very tasty. Wine selection on the menu seemed a little limited. The bottle of Orin Swift was OK - but would have preferred a good Bordeaux

   We dined here many years ago and thought it was a great experience. I guess we were disappointed when it didn’t deliver a similar experience. Yes, the food is still very good. Overall, though, the restaurant just felt disappointing. Even though the host and hostess were very welcoming, the rest of the evening felt rushed and rather impersonal. There was little to no engagement by the waiter. My companion ordered a drink and planned to order a glass of wine with dinner. He no sooner got his drink when the entrees arrived….within 10 minutes of ordering. At that point, the wine seemed largely unnecessary. The busser was attempting to remove plates before I had finished. We were out the door 40 minutes after we walked in. I don’t expect to hold a table the entire evening, but I do like a relaxed dining experience. The place was active that Wednesday evening, but certainly not slammed. There was no wait for s table. Would the pace have been less rushed if we had ordered more than entrees? I can’t answer that, but I know they lost a sale on a glass of wine due to the rushed presentation. The restaurant has changed ownership since we were last there, but any issues with that should have been resolved some time ago. At any rate, it’s doubtful we’ll return on future Maui visits.

   Everything was exceptional. The staff was very cordial, and they all pitched in equally to ensure our experience was wonderful. The food was spectacular. We had the ribeye, the seafood curry, the macadamia nut crested mahi-mahi and dessert. We were all more than pleased with our meal. This is our third or fourth time experiencing the general store and it’s definitely our favorite restaurant .

    Frank our waiter was excellent, friendly , helpful enjoyable to talk to etc. manager was there to always check on us. We look forward to going back in 4 days. It is great restaurant.
