Welcome to Hart House, one of the lower mainland's finest dining experiences. Built in 1910, the locally renowned Tudor style heritage house is situated on two acres of gardens on Deer Lake. This idyllic country estate, is only 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
BC Restaurant Hall of Fame Proprietor and restaurateur Paul Smolen transformed the 'family home' into a restaurant in 1989.
Since then, Hart House has opened its doors to countless dining guests, newlyweds and corporate clients; offering culinary excellence, a well stocked wine cellar and friendly professional service.
Hart House has been inducted into the Burnaby Business Hall of Fame in October of 2014.

    Our server, Gabriella ("G", was brilliant. She explained the three course meal and pairings to us, then delivered us a lot of super high quality food and new wines. We were very full and happy! Laura & Mark

    Went for the Eat Burnaby experience and did the wine pairing. Was not disappointed. Great meal in a great old mansion. Loved it!

    The Hart House is a beautifully kept up restaurant and the food was good. The service was very good. I will recommend it to others and I will also come back.

    Our lunch was amazing and our waiter was fantastic Ambience was wonderful until a group came and one had her dog on her lap. It’s unfortunate the restaurant is not able to ask for proof for a emotional support animal. I wish I could have for them. It soured our end of meal but not at all the restaurants fault. If it was actually a support animal then I apologize , but I believe an animal of support does not need to be held up at the table. Which showed with its outfit that is was likely not a support animal but someone taking advantage of the restaurant and belittling actually people who need this support. Adjustments need to be made so an establishment can ask for proof. Not everyone enjoys any animals fur floating around their food.

    Dear Catt, Thank you for your feedback and for bringing this to our attention. You are absolutely right—we do not allow dogs in the restaurant unless they are certified guide dogs. In this instance, a newly promoted manager made an error in judgment. We have since spoken to her to ensure our guide dog policy is fully understood and followed in the future.     What a beautiful place to enjoy a great lunch. Very interesting options, and all delicious. And the best restaurants for ambience in all of Burnaby! The service was outstanding.

    Classic, heritage, original 1920s. Dinner divine and delicious. Pricey but worth it. Do the dinner for 2 choice for the perfect night.

    I heard so much about the Hart House but didn’t get the chance to dine there until recently when my friend took me there to celebrate my birthday. It was nice to dine in a historic heritage building. We had the grilled chicken supreme and seafood pot pie for lunch. We were told it would take 20 minutes for the food to be ready which was fine. The food was good and the seafood pot pie had plenty of seafood in it. The chicken was flavorful and tender. The service was ok. I was a bit disappointed as I had a great birthday experience with another restaurant when I indicated it was celebrating a birthday in the note when booking through OpenTable. I guessed I was expecting a similar type of experience here as I also indicated celebrating a birthday. There was no birthday well wishes from the staff at all. Maybe our table by the window was an indication they saw the note on the reservation.
