My partner and I are visiting London from Australia and booked Hawksmoor for a celebratory dinner (we just got engaged). We had been looking forward to it for the last few months, but unfortunately were really underwhelmed. The service and venue itself were really beautiful but our food was not aligned with the cost. We started with drinks and the Potted Beef which, while tasty, was all on the cold side. For mains we were quite shocked that they did not seem to have any cuts of meat smaller than 600g, so ended up settling on the only one on offer - a 450g Chateaubriand (totalling £70) with sides of chips, creamed spinach, and béarnaise sauce. The spinach and sauce were nice, but the serving of chips was maybe 10 or 12 for the entire serving. Our biggest upset was the steak, which we asked to be cooked medium rare. It came out later than the rest of the sides, to which our waiter apologised, but ended up being massively overcooked and more well done than even medium. We were asked about 2 minutes after receiving the meal if everything was okay, but at that stage we had barely eaten any of it so said yes. As we continued through the meal, it became more clear that the steak was overcooked. We finished the meal and let the waiter know about the meat before we ordered dessert, and she was apologetic and said that if we had mentioned earlier they could have done something. We finished with a sticky toffee pudding which was really tasty (and that they took off our bill - unsure if this was as an apology or to celebrate our occasion). Unfortunately the experience was tainted, and we did not feel it was worth the almost £150 total.

Food was good as always but the front of house staff upon our departure were very rude for matters I won’t discuss in an open forum. Unfortunately this has left a bad taste and I will no longer be a customer. Thanks

I regret to say that our recent visit to Hawksmoor Seven Dials was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had, primarily due to the poor service. We arrived for our 4 PM reservation, booked weeks in advance for a milestone birthday celebration. Immediately after being seated, we were informed we needed to order food right away because the kitchen was about to close. This was surprising and frustrating, as our reservation confirmation stated we would have the table for two hours. When we asked for clarification, we were vaguely told it was for special reasons, but no further explanation was provided. After placing our food order, we had to flag down the waitress to order drinks, as she didn’t seem attentive or concerned. Once our food arrived, our waitress disappeared entirely, and a new server took over without notice. When we asked where our original waitress had gone, the new waitress informed us her shift had ended. Strangely, we later saw our first waitress in the restroom chatting with a friend and walking around the dining area, blatantly ignoring our table and failing to acknowledge us at all. This poor service was especially upsetting because we had high hopes for this dinner and had been looking forward to celebrating such a special occasion. While the restaurant did compensate us for our side dishes and dessert after we shared our concerns, the gesture didn’t fully make up for the disheartening experience. To the restaurant’s credit, the food was exceptional—easily the highlight of the evening. However, the disorganized and dismissive service completely overshadowed the quality of the meal. It’s a shame because this could have been a memorable celebration for all the right reasons. Instead, we left feeling disappointed and undervalued as customers. Hawksmoor Seven Dials has a stellar reputation, but based on this experience, I would hesitate to recommend it for a special occasion unless serious improvements are made to theirservice.

Booked Hawksmoor, as I had seen positive reviews and wanted to celebrate my partner’s birthday with a Sunday Roast. After arriving at the venue (early), my partners birthday was acknowledged but informed that table was not yet ready. Proceeded to wait at the bar, but no menus/water offered. Felt like we’d been forgotten about, before a waiter realised that we were waiting for a table. After being shown to our table, our waiter Gabor failed to show any personality and went through the motions to take our order. We weren’t even asked about allergies. Food was average at best and despite other nearby tables celebrating birthdays, there was no further acknowledgment of our own celebration. By the end we disputed paying the discretionary service charge but begrudgingly paid it. Again it felt as though we had been forgotten when no staff enquired after our experience at the restaurant. Would seriously question whether we would choose to visit Hawksmoor again. A disappointing experience for what was meant to be a special occasion.

One of the best Hawksmoor meals we’ve had, great crispy hot chips, and the rump steak was superb especially if butterflied and recommend eating with the Hawksmoor gravy!

The price and atmosphere were both good. However, the meat was a bit overcooked on the outside, leaving behind charcoal remnants. Despite this, the overall value for the price was good. I would have preferred larger portions.
