Hawksmoor Seven Dials – Steak, Seafood & Cocktails in Covent Garden.

Tucked away in a former brewery just off Seven Dials, Hawksmoor is the spot for seriously good steak, seafood, and cocktails right in the heart of Covent Garden. Whether you’re settling in for a long lunch, grabbing a bite before or after the theatre, or just fancy a perfectly chilled martini at the bar, it’s the kind of place that feels special without being stuffy.

The menu is all about top-quality British produce—grass-fed native-breed beef cooked over charcoal, sustainable seafood, and proper seasonal sides. And if you’re around on a Sunday, the roast is not to be missed: dry-aged beef, crispy beef-dripping roast potatoes, and ginormous Yorkshire puddings. Basically, great food, good people, and a place you’ll want to come back to.

We have eaten here on many occasions and the food has been good. Sadly, this was, without doubt, the worst meal we have had. Our steaks were lukewarm (and tough), as was the macaroni cheese. We sent them back and another set of steaks came back which again were tough and tasteless. The macaroni cheese was also lukewarm once again. We told our server who was very polite and apologised. The steaks and the macaroni cheese were taken off the bill. This was so disappointing as it was a celebration meal, and we left feeling totally unsatisfied. We don't think we will risk coming back having paid £88 for some chips, a salad and a drink.

Hawksmoor always has been fantastic but it’s becoming noticeably more expensive to the point where one starts to consider other options

As usual our Chateaubriand was cooked perfectly medium rare as requested. 850gm of steak was quite sufficient for four people with sides and other courses. We always think that for the price, the size of the sides and sauces are very mean. The three different desserts we chose were all delicious. Nice bottle house of Hawksmoor blend Argentinian Malbec. Service was okay if somewhat difficult to attract attention.

Hubby's birthday so quick trip to London to celebrate and booked a table at Seven Dials for lunch. Food was well presented and tasted amazing. Sides are for sharing so three between two was ample and could probably got away with two. Hubby enjoyed his can of beer, Hawksmoor own brand, and I loved the fact there was a decent choice of non-alcoholic beverages. The young lady serving us was great, even singing Happy Birthday to hubby when presenting him with his chocolates and birthday candle.

I visited the Sevendials restaurant yesterday. Which was unfortunately was disappointing. The food was fine it was the bill that left me disappointed. On asking for the bill I explained to the server that I had a gift card which luckily covered our bill. The issue was the bill was never presented to me and the optional service charge was automatically taken from the balance on the gift card without any discretion, explanation or confirming if I would like to proceed with leaving a tip. When I raised this with welcome staff on the door, the response I got was “we don’t ask it’s sort of a London thing”. Which left me slightly embarrassed. Whilst I would have happily given a tip I would have liked the option to discuss this and not have this taken off the remaining balance of my gift card. So unfortunately, this left me disappointed with what was a nice evening up until this moment.

First time at Hawksmoor. Really lovely restaurant with a very welcoming team. Great menu selection. We all had Sirloin, which was sublime although Sunday Roast looks really good too.

Great food (though not perfect), pleasant atmosphere and good service, but the prices are astronomical now. It's good, but it's not so good it's worth the £400 we paid for a meal for 4.
