I made reservations for NYE dinner and was very excited! I frequently stay at Geneva National, however, I have never been to Hunt Club but have heard great things. Things started off well, but quickly went downhill. I ordered the Honey Glazed Pan Roasted Half Chicken, which was tough, had a hard time cutting it with the steak knife. The champagne poached pears were not great either, in my opinion. Also ordered the burger, medium; it seemed more medium rare but not a dealbreaker. The cider-bacon jam was so overwhelming, you couldn't taste the burger itself. My daughter also asked our waiter for more fruit, he left and didnt return to the table for 20+ mins, and when he returned, he didn't have the fruit, nor did he even bring it up (asked the chef, wasn't available, etc.) I asked for the check and if the Crème Brûlée could be made to go, he said yes, so I ordered it. Another 20 mins go by and no dessert. He comes back with the check, saying it would be right out. Dessert never comes. He comes back with the receipt, asking if the dessert ever came out, I say no, he says he'll go check. Finally comes back 10 mins later with the Crème Brûlée. We leave. Go to eat the Crème Brûlée later in the evening and it clearly was not something that could be taken to go. Looked like sloppy scrambled eggs on top of the caramelized sugar. No utensils. The caramelized sugar was so torched, it was black. Tasted horrible, just charred burned sugar. The custard wasn't good either. For the price of the meal, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. And the service was sub-par. Will not return. Not worth the hype. Ended up ordering a pizza after we left because we were all starving.

Had a great time! Service was a little on the slower side, but didn’t bother us! The menu is a tad pricey, but the food is generally really solid!

My wife had the pork tenderloin with red cabbage and absolutely loved it. All of the flavors promised in the menu description were noticeable. My diver scallops also were very tasty and the mushroom side was delicious. The only reason we give the food a 4 is that my NY strip was just so so. Service was below “so so” as our server did not tell us about the specials and rarely came back to check and refill water etc. The dining room area was closed and all of the customers were seated in the bar area which was so cold both we, and the food, were eventually well below acceptable temperatures. It’s possible we will come back, but it won’t be for steak.

FAQs

Yes, Hunt Club Steakhouse is a strong choice for a date night. Guests frequently praise the warm, elegant ambience, window tables with golf-course views, attentive service, and a fine-dining steakhouse menu (excellent steaks, cocktails and an award-winning wine list). Note: evenings can get lively or noisy when large groups are in house, so request a window or fireplace room for a quieter, romantic table and mention celebrations when you book.

Portions follow an upscale steakhouse style, the steaks are the main attraction and are plated as entrees while sides are often meant to be shared. Several guests note that some a la carte steaks and sides can feel small or pricey for the portion, while others find the steaks and shareable sides (truffle mac, Brussels, whipped Yukon potatoes) satisfyingly prepared. Tip: order a side to share or ask your server about portioning if you’re concerned.

Yes, Hunt Club has a full bar, crafted cocktails, classic martinis and an extensive wine list. Guests frequently praise the bar service (notably the bartender Ralph) and specific cocktails like espresso martinis and Ralph’s Wisconsin Old Fashioned. The dinner menu also lists martinis, highballs, old fashioneds and wine-forward options, so you’ll find both creative cocktails and a substantial wine selection.

Steaks are the stand-out, guests repeatedly recommend the filet, ribeye and Wagyu offerings (many call the steaks exceptional). Other fan favorites include the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, Duck Fat Parker House Rolls, Brussels sprouts and lobster pappardelle or seafood tower. If you’re trying to decide, ask your server for tonight’s specials and the house favorites, many guests single out the crab cake and signature steaks.

Dinner hours are posted as: Mon–Thu and Sun 4:00 pm–9:00 pm; Fri–Sat 4:00 pm–10:00 pm. Because special events and holidays are often served, it’s a good idea to confirm hours when you book or call ahead for holiday service or private events.

Families do dine here and guests often celebrate anniversaries or birthdays with children and teens. The layout includes bar seating, window tables with views and quieter dining rooms; the restaurant also accepts large parties and private events. Accessibility details aren’t specified in the available information, if you need wheelchair access or special seating, call ahead so the staff can confirm accommodations and reserve an appropriate table.

For a quieter, more relaxed meal, choose a weekday or an early dinner, guests report that Monday–Thursday and earlier seatings are less busy. Weekends, holidays and evenings after golf events tend to be lively and louder, so if you prefer a calm table request a window room or ask for a private area when you book. Reservations are recommended during peak times.

Hunt Club offers several seating options: an active bar area (with window seats and golf-course views), quieter dining rooms (wood walls, fireplace), and private/party space for larger groups. Guests often request window tables or a corner by the fireplace for special occasions; management accommodates many seating requests but it’s best to note preferences when you reserve.

The ambience is warm, elegant and historically charming, many guests praise the vintage-house feel, scenic golf-course and lake views, and attentive service. The bar area is livelier and can get noisy when larger groups are present; quieter rooms with wood walls and a fireplace offer a cozier, more intimate experience. Overall it’s a fine-dining steakhouse with a relaxed, upscale vibe.

Dress code is Resort Casual. Guests commonly dress up for date nights, anniversaries and special occasions; the setting is upscale but relaxed, so smart casual attire is appropriate. If you have a large private event or special request about dress, mention it when you reserve.

Yes, while Hunt Club is steak-focused, the menu includes vegetarian-friendly choices (seasonal risotto, house-made potato gnocchi) and many vegetable sides. Guests report the staff accommodating dietary needs and allergies when asked. Gluten-free options aren’t explicitly listed on the menu, so call ahead to confirm safe choices and to let the kitchen know about any allergies.

Yes, many guests request window tables, corner seats or seating for celebrations and the restaurant often accommodates those requests. Guests also report managers offering complimentary items for special occasions. For allergies, dietary needs or specific seating, call ahead and note the request on your reservation to help ensure the kitchen and front-of-house can prepare.

Families do dine here, and guests often bring teens or celebrate birthdays with children. The focus is on steaks and fine dining, so there’s no explicit kids menu listed; younger children can be accommodated but many guests recommend an early seating or a private/quiet room for family meals. Call ahead to discuss any menu flexibility for younger diners.

There’s no explicit waiting-list policy in the available information, but guests report the restaurant can be busy, overbooked, or have delays during peak times. Reservations are strongly recommended; if you’re visiting on a busy night (weekend, holiday, golf event) call ahead to confirm your reservation or ask whether they maintain a waitlist for walk-ins.

Busiest: weekend evenings, holidays and nights with large golf or group events, guests often report higher noise levels and slower service then. Quietest: weekday evenings (Mon–Thu) and early seatings tend to be calmer. For a quieter experience, choose a weekday or early dinner and request a window or fireplace room when you reserve.

Weekdays, especially Monday–Thursday, are often the best choice for a quieter, more relaxed meal; guests commonly recommend early weekday seatings or Sunday evenings for lower noise and faster service. If you prefer the lively bar scene, Friday and Saturday deliver a more energetic atmosphere but expect crowds and possible delays.

Yes, the Hunt Club accepts private parties and large groups and guests reference private rooms or designated areas for celebrations. If you’re planning a private event or party, contact the restaurant to discuss room options, menus, capacity and any special requests.

Guests report the Hunt Club has served holiday dinners (Thanksgiving and Christmas) in past years, so the restaurant does operate for some public holidays and special meals. Because holiday hours and menus can change, call ahead or check with the restaurant to confirm holiday service and any special seating or prix-fixe menus.

Yes, the menu includes seasonal and chef-driven items (Chef’s Seasonal Risotto, daily oyster selection and nightly specials), and guests have noted changes under new chefs and nightly specials. If you’re hoping for a specific dish, ask about tonight’s specials when you arrive, the kitchen often rotates items by season and availability.
