Our server Will and server assistant Dante were amazing. They were warm, friendly, and attentive during our entire meal. The Caesar salad prepared table side was terrific, and our two fish dishes were delicious. We love the Iron Gate!

Fantastic experience. We had martinis in the bar before moving into the dining room. Our waiter was wonderful; he made the best table side Caesar ever, and the whole vibe was very special and old school. My date and I had the Châteaubriand for two, and brought home enough leftovers for dinner the next night. The Iron Gate is a Peninsula institution, and I hope it remains so for years to come.

This is an elegant French restaurant which offers a variety of French cuisine. For appetizers we love the crab cake and escargot’s. The Ceaser salad which is prepared at the table is delicious. Our favorite entrees are the Steak Diane Flambè which is prepared at the table, and Le Liaison Iron Gate. Do not forget to order the soufflés for dessert. They are the best we have tasted…It is definitely a special experience.

The food was excellent! Amazing sauces, filet mignon cooked exactly as requested, super fresh vegetables cooked to perfection. Perfect service, not too fast, not too slow, didn't hover, didn't ignore. Pleasant and friendly staff, helpful recommendations when requested. Tables pretty close and sound levels pretty high. We were happy to be tucked into a corner that felt more private. With tip, $600 for four people. Pricey, about what I expected, and all together wonderful for the special occasion of our daughter's engagement.

Just wonderful! Went there for my parents 55th wedding anniversary and they treated them like a king and queen. The food was so tasty and everybody had a great time. Thank you Iron Gate!

We had the pleasure of celebrating our dear friend’s actual birthday tonight, March 7, 2025 at this historic gem—one of the Peninsula’s oldest fine dining establishments. It proved to be the perfect setting for a truly memorable occasion! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the lovely Mari, the owner, whose gracious hospitality set the tone for the evening. The restaurant exudes a cozy yet elegant charm, with crisp white tablecloths adding a touch of refinement—an instant plus for me. The staff, impeccably dressed in dinner tuxedo jackets, further elevated the experience with their attentive and professional service. As for the food—simply divine! Every dish was prepared to perfection, showcasing both skill and quality ingredients. Our journey from San Francisco to Belmont was well worth it, and we left with full hearts and satisfied palates. We highly recommend this exceptional restaurant and can’t wait to return. In fact, we’re already planning to become regulars! Randy ‘O

Ended up spending three hours there because of slow waiter service, and was somehow charged for six large salads, each meant to be split amongst two people, when we were a group of six people. Not great communication from staff, although we were greeted very nicely by the hostess. Lights are very bright, but food was pretty good. Nothing special, I would go to Westlake Joe’s next time.

Flambé table-side service options for salads, entrees, and desserts. Food was amazing, service was above standards, highly recommend not only for a special occasion but go to treat yourself because you deserve it.
