Dans le passé, Josef Sheekey faisait les marchés avec son stand de fruits de mer avant d'ouvrir un bar à huîtres sur St Martin's Court en 1896. Le restaurant a été rénové en 1998 pour renouer avec son glorieux passé, ses quatre chambres communicantes décorées avec des portraits originaux d'acteurs du 20ème siècle qui reflètent son rôle central dans le monde du théâtre. Acteurs comme spectateurs affluent ici pour les fruits de mer d'une fraîcheur immaculée et parfaitement préparés.

    Took my boyfriend here for his birthday meal and we had such a good time. The food was amazing, service was really good and the setting felt very special. It is on the pricier side (especially if you're having alcohol) but the food is very reasonably priced for the quality and there are cheaper options if that's what you're looking for. Would highly recommend

    Service a little slow, could see waste bin bags lying on the floor when sat at the bar area looking in to the prep area. But food, drinks and the general atmosphere all incredible - highly recommend

    Great food as always but beware of sitting at the counter. The guests next to us seemed to think our space was theirs and twice my wife had stuff spilled on her by waitstaff passing by - once from dropped glassware and a second time water sloshing out of a container. Do yourself a favor and sit at a table to enjoy their amazing food and service.

    First time back at J Sheekey for a couple of years due to personal circumstances. Food and efficiency of service lived up to expectations but sadly the friendliness of the staff is not what it used to be. Starting with the reception desk, a very surly manner greeted us on arrival, then shoved into a horrible cold table in the corner when there were plenty of other tables available. They did move us upon request but definitely made feel like a second class citizen and they were doing us a favour. It appears these days that smiles and quality service are the reserve of the rich and famous only. Such a shame as this used to be my favourite restaurant in London and a must go to.
