Dans le passé, Josef Sheekey faisait les marchés avec son stand de fruits de mer avant d'ouvrir un bar à huîtres sur St Martin's Court en 1896. Le restaurant a été rénové en 1998 pour renouer avec son glorieux passé, ses quatre chambres communicantes décorées avec des portraits originaux d'acteurs du 20ème siècle qui reflètent son rôle central dans le monde du théâtre. Acteurs comme spectateurs affluent ici pour les fruits de mer d'une fraîcheur immaculée et parfaitement préparés.

While my guests and I enjoyed ourselves very much and it was ok to be escorted to the bae for a drink while waiting for our table - we were on time - we found the drink service some what slow. We were not told that we had to order our drinks at the bar ourselves. After waiting for service for some time, then not getting responses from seeming wait staff who passed by our table, we asked other guests. Drink service was slow. We had to ask twice for each of the two bottles of wine ordered. Everyone was very apologetic which alleviated the situation and otherwise, all was well (I last dined in your restaurant some 50 years ago!)

J Sheekys has never disappointed. Personally I prefer inside the restaurant area or walk-in and eat at the bar if there’s availability. Food beautifully fresh and cooked well. Perfect for lunch or dinner. Interior wood panels and traditional. Will always be one of my favourite haunts in London.

Amazing Food and Ambiance, with Elegant set up and Table Service. Price has taken a steep inflationary circe since last Summer. For special occasions

Best Dover Sole in a long time. Generous portion and nice pudding to finish. Very extensive wine list, so had a nice Albarino. Service personal were attentive. The cancellation policy is a bit harsh. I was very sick, but they were able to re-schedule me.

Not so good on the service front in comparison to other visits to Sheekey’s. Starter order mixed up, no wine served for some reason (bottle had been left in the ice bucket rather than served for some reason). Food was fine, up to normal standard but the service really wasn’t great.
