   The food was very good. The ambience was that of breakfast at the Waffle House. Our server and his assistant were outstanding. The restaurant is located in a resort hotel that was sold last year. The hotel is going through a renovation and the restaurant has just completed the remodel. The acoustics are horrendous. The atmosphere has changed drastically. Enjoying your dinner and a quiet conversation are no longer possible. The restaurant once had a rule that they would only serve a maximum of 6 per table. That has changed and could be a contributing factor in the noise. There was a number of large groups of men (golfers) that were very loud. This is the 2nd time we have experienced raucous groups. I believe there may be a new Executive Chef and with that comes new recipes. My favorite dish is the Shrimp Rockefeller. The preparation of the dish has changed. It was still good but not "as good" as the previous times that I have ordered it. The entrance to the restaurant was more elegant. Now the entry has a large TV and looks like a sports bar with a large table that could easily seat 8 and a number of smaller tables to seat 2 - 4 guests. We plan to give it one more chance - hopefully it will be more relaxing and enjoyable.

   Our two servers were certainly nice guys, but they allowed the kitchen to massively rush us which made the courses difficult to enjoy. The food was coming out and because of the size of the plates, they were unable to place them without removing what we already had, even when we were not finished. This was stressful and confusing often resulting in us not having the correct (or any) flatware. Water glasses were empty for some time. The nice young man apologized when he did refill them. They were out of the first 3 wines we tried to order. After rushing us through the whole mean, we waited over 20 minutes for our dessert, which we ordered at the same time as our entrees. When we finished dessert, we waited almost 30 minutes for our check. The waiter was back and forth into the room several times during this wait. The food had highlights, for sure, the shrimp Oscar style appetizer had amazing flavors and perfect texture, but our soup and salad getting piled on top of it lessened the experience of the flavors. The French Onion soup was very good but the wedge salad was strange, served with a pile of partially burnt, partially uncooked bacon on the side of the plate. The Ribeye was excellent quality although cooked past the temp that we requested. The sides, onion strings-great, mashed potatoes-yummy, creamer corn-watery and baked potato-dry. We enjoyed the dessert very much, the house signature soufflé, the presentation was beautiful and the flavors were perfect, even the texture was spot-on. Overall, the timing and rushed pace overrode the experience and it just wasn’t the relaxed anniversary celebration we were hoping for. We are unlikely to return expecting a fine dining experience. Maybe we’ll drop in to the lounge for a snack and that amazing soufflé.

   Eating in a cigarette smoked filled restaurant is an experience from the 1970s. However the entire casino is smoke filled and if that bothers someone then dining in Utah, 30 minutes away, may be your only option. The experience at Katherine's is the classy steakhouse vibe. Tuxedo staff , "whatever you prefer, sir". Huge serving of complementary bread and butter with olives and cheese. The appetizers are enormous and varied. Served to you immediately. No need to order a main course. Unless you're a "steak guy" Flavors are good enough to come back for another dinner to try some other choices. Prices are reasonable for a classy night out and skipping the main course. Reservations were difficult but the crowded bar was easy. Patrons all low rollers trying to be high rollers and it is loud. Baseball cap mandatory (joke) Overall an excellent choice for Mesquite, Nevada. Enjoy

   As always, Katherine's gets everything right. Great food and service... I'm going to go with exceptional! The new setup makes it a little more comfortable and roomier at the tables. C'est est tres bon

   Our first time eating here. It was very busy and we had reservations but had to wait for our table. The servers were all very pleasant, professional and did a great job. The food was excellent. My husband had the pork chop and I had the filet mignon. The lobster bisque and the wedge salad were both very good. We were so full we didn’t order dessert. All in all we were pleasantly surprised and we will come back again. Thank you.
