Located in Pittsburgh’s Strip District, Kaya is a casual, island-inspired restaurant with colorful mosaics, tribal art and exposed brick walls that whisks customers away to exotic shores as they walk through the door. Kaya serves both traditional island dishes and American favorites with an island twist. Tropas (tropical tapas) sandwiches and entrees are all made with local ingredients and bold flavors. And with its classic preparations paired with exciting seasonal offerings, Kaya’s tropical cocktail list is like a vacation in a glass.

Meal was amazing. Kaya staff always recognizes us a regular customers and goes out of their way to make us feel special. Compliments to Big Burrito and specifically the staff at Kaya. Thank you for making Kaya a welcoming space and our goto to celebrate special occasions or just because nights out.

A warm friendly spot on a grey rainy and dreary evening. Made it for happy hour for cocktails at a good price to start the evening. The jerked chicken was well seasoned, cooked just right and remains one of my favorites. The combination of the chicken, jalapenos, pineapple and greens is fantastic. Something new this time was the Key Lime Tart, which is definitely a keeper.

Wonderful Fried Chicken Night at Kaya. The chicken meat was juicy and the batter was crispy. The sides were bright and bursting with flavor. Delicious and fun. Great drinks too.

This place is so cozy and clean. Kaya’s warm orange ambiance fills the space with a sense of home while the staff top off the energy with inviting demeanors and strip district neighborliness. The food is flavorful without being too overpowering. The seats are comfortable, the bar is posh, and the cocktails are sweet and strong. Go to Kaya if you want to have a memorable evening with friends, family, or your sweetheart. :)

I’ve been to Kaya dozens of times and unfortunately, this was one of the worst visits I’ve had. I ordered the tempura avocado tacos and was not informed that they would be covered in an inedible spicy seasoning. I like spice but they were so red from the seasoning and so hot I couldn’t even enjoy them. I asked if I could get a replacement without the spice and the waitress was a bit put off. I can’t eat mayo and she told me the mayo sauce was what cools them down. I asked again for new ones and she did take it and have them remake it. Unfortunately, it was some of the worst food and service I’ve had and I’ve been coming here for close to 10 years.

We have been longtime customers at Kaya and have always had positive experiences. However we went for the special vegetarian tasting, and unfortunately everything was a disaster from the beginning. Poor and unacceptable experience overall: - horrendous customer service - delayed drinks - all courses were served cold and with enormous time in between - refusal and denial on food quality from management and staff - each course tasted old and felt like it was poorly “reheated” We left very unhappy and disappointed because as longtime patrons, we did not expect this lackluster, disappointing experience.
