Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. For the love of her, Orion forged the island for wild game and seafood to prepare elaborate banquets in celebration of their love. Haven’t been here in years, prices have really soared. Quality still excellent and the staff, service is also great. Very knowledgeable about the old world wines and good selection too. Pita, feta olives to start with a bottle of retsina, followed by the delicious smelt (much smaller portion these days). Hortiki salad, grilled petrale sole, grilled sea bream, goat with artichoke and cheese and the rack of lamb (now $69 for 3), all the entree were exceptional but was just surprised how expensive it has gotten, not to mention the healthcare tax also added to the bill. Special occasions only from now on.

Seated quickly at a lovely table. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was spectacular. I love the simple elegant Greek salad . The lamb rib lets are cooked to perfect tenderness and simple flavors without being overpowered with herbs. Look forward to next time

Be prepared to overspend! for two people, the cost of the meal and this was moderate was not worth the extraordinary cost - total bill for 3 cocktails 1 glass of $22 wine, small smelt appetizer shared, 1 salad shared which was quite ordinary, fish entree overcooked!!! and the special of day was simply leftover lamb BITS! too well done!! we shared one dessert, total cost of bill including 20% tip was $323.00!!! Just not worth it!! , I will never return here; the value was not there! There was not one part of the meal that I could say warranted the high cost especially of the entrees! a very disappointing experience. we've been to Greece and know what good Greek food tastes like,!! The food was very ordinary; not anything exceptional, Very Disappointed customers!
